Rebecca Dirks' interviewing style is so much better than what the guy in the EMG videos does with his "what's up man, we're hangin' at the... flippin' rad, dude..." schtick. Whenever I hear somebody talk "hipster douche-ian" like that, I want to punch my monitor. It's aggravating. She asks most of the questions I would ask if I were there and only had a few minutes. She's good! I always have to smile drily at the ambivalent corporate nature of the music instruments business today. It's great that brands like Gretsch, Guild and Jackson are still around because thousands of people all over the planet love these guitars, but I always can't help but think: "Look it's a FENDER White Falcon... and over there is a FENDER 6120 next to a FENDER Duo Jet". Very strange...

Wouldn't it be nice to special order guitars at will from manufacturer's custom shops? I'm a sucker for sparkle. That green sparkle Duo Jet was so sweet. Ditto every one of those gorgeous 6120's! If I ever hit the lottery, I will wear out the Gretsch Custom Shop!

I agree with the above comments... BUT[tehehe, ya knew there would be one, right?] Having worked in MANY paint shops that mandated very strict spec regulation, I wanted to scream when he said... "These are ready for the paintshop". What I wanted to scream was "keep yer grubby, oily hands off the areas to be finished!!!" Sorry, always has been a pet peeve. One word... "GLOVES". :o)

I am really glad to see Gretsch, Gibson & Fender doing custom shop. I am a vintage collector and I can attest that the newer custom shop models are every bit as good if not better than vintage. Rickenbacker is one company that needs to get with the program and start making custom orders.

Pretty darn incredible! They're really doing some cool stuff down there. I love those custom-color Penguins--it seems a shame that they're going to relic those.

It would be nice to see the rest of the series. I like this kind of video; I wish I could afford to order a CS of any brand. So I get some vicarious satisfaction from watching these videos.

I was expecting to see CNC machines "buzzing away" making new custom guitars. Instead I saw craftsmen doing real hand work on the guitars, very intimate and attentive. The guitars are beautiful. It gives me new respect for Gretsch and what they do. I am sure they cost a lot, but you can see what you get for the extra $$$. I enjoy watching interviews like this one.
