Hagstrom & Walden Guitars - Summer NAMM '09

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Hagstrom and Walden booth. In this video, we get to see several new models from both companies. New offerings from Hagstrom include the Viking (maple body, hard maple set neck, H-Expander truss rod, two Hagstrom custom-wound humbuckers and Long Travel Tune-O-Matic with Hagstrom trapeze tailpiece), Ultra Swede (basswood body, flame maple top, maple set neck and Long Travel Tune-O-Matic with Hagstrom stop tailpiece and 6-individual brass string blocks) and Deluxe-F Tremar (mahogany body with hollowed bass side, carved maple top, set mahogany neck and 2-Hagstrom Custom 60 humbuckers).

The Walden models featured are the D710CE (dreadnought body style, solid Engelmann spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and features a Venetian cutaway) and the CG670TB (dreadnought body style, solid Western Red cedar top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood fingerboard and mahogany neck).

Parker Guitars Vernon Reid & Dutkiewicz DragonFlys

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Parker Guitars booth. In this segment, we get our first glance at two new signature Parker DragonFlys - Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage) and Vernon Reid (Living Colour). The Adam Dutkiewicz DragonFly features a 5-way pickup switch, a H-S-S configuration and a Parker first, EMG pickups. The Vernon Reid DragonFly comes with a Floyd Rose trem, EMG X-Series (H-S-S) pickups and a Roland MIDI system near the bridge.

Eden Electronics ENX260,WTX-500 & More-Summer NAMM

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he swings by the Eden Electronics booth. In this segment, we check out some new bass amps from Eden Electronics. First up is the ENX260 that is a 500 watt head and weighs under 4 lbs. The next bass head that we see is the WTX-500 that is based on the Golden Ear chip for warmth and musicality. It features a 3-band EQ with dynamic bass boost and mid-shift functions and switchable automatic compression. The last bass head is the 500 watt Navigator 1000 (class-D) which comes with 3 dB of headroom.

Washburn Guitars Nuno Bettencourt,HM Series & More

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Washburn Guitars booth. In this segment, we get introduced to several new Washburn models including, the Custom Shop WI 595 Idol, a HM Series firetruck red model and several Nuno Bettencourt signature models. The WI 595 comes with a mahogany body, carved maple top and Duncan pickups (Custom - bridge - '59 - neck).

The HM Series guitar show features a firetruck red gloss finish, all chrome hardware (chrome EMGs and Floyd Rose trem), Grover tuners and a mahogany body.

The Nuno Bettencourt signature models shown include a 20th Anniversary with an alder body, maple neck, ebony fretboard and Stephens extended cutaway 5-bolt neck joint. The other model is the Nuno N4 Goth, which is the first Nuno model to include active pickups (Seymour Duncan Blackouts).

The RM 22 is a tube head that features Randall's modular technology. Its a 15 watt head with a 2-channel boost (foot-switchable) and will include up to 24 different modules (for example: Diezel, Orange, Kirk Hammett, etc.)

Fryette Amps Memphis Thirty Demo - Summer NAMM '09

In this video, we get to see and hear from Fryette's brand new combo, the Memphis Thirty. The Memphis Thirty is a 30 watt 1x12 combo featuring dual channels - channel assignable power switching (18 watt mode), series/parallel effects loop and a tube-driven Accutronics spring reverb. Other features include a foot-switchable boost, 1-12AX7 (Russia), 4-12AX7 (China), 1-12AT7 and 4-Premium Matched Sovtek EL84 power tubes and a 12" Eminence speaker. The front panel controls (Drive)are Gain, Master Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass, while the Clean channel controls include, Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass.

In this video, we get our first look at G&L's Jerry Cantrell Rampage (both import and USA models), where were introduced at the show. Both come built to Jerry's specs and feature a a heavily contoured body and a lone humbucker in the bridge position. We also get to see their F-100 reissue guitar that features a mahogany body, the option of Seymour Duncan or EMG active pups and a G&L fulcrum bridge. In addition, we get our first look at the JB Bass which comes with either alder or swamp ash bodies, G&L alnico jazz pickups and hard maple neck (either rosewood or maple fingerboard).

Cole Clark Fat Lady Series & Angel-Summer NAMM '09

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Cole Clark booth. In this video segment, we get up close and personal with Cole Clark's Fat Lady series and one of their newest models, the Angel. The Fat Lady (on PG's July cover) models all come in a solid timber dreadnought construction that features an internally carved top. In addition, all the Fat Lady models come with Grover tuners and all three models (FL1, FL2, FL3) can come with solid bunya tops. The difference between the Fat Lady models lie in their aesthetics like fretboard markings and binding appointments.

The Angel is a cutaway model that can come with either qld Maple, blackwood or rosewood backs and all come with "Lattice" rear bracing. The Angel features a 25.5" scale length.

Cole Clark Electrics,Lap Steels & More-Summer NAMM

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Cole Clark booth. In this video segment, we get introduced to some of Cole Clark's electric guitar models (recently introduced to the US marketplace), ukuleles (Ukelady) and lap steel models.

First off, we see the Guardian - reminiscent of the Strat - that features a Queensland maple body, rock maple neck and a 25.5" scale length. The Culprit series - a T-style body - can feature a bunya, silkwood, qld maple or quandong body and has various pickup configurations - 2 single coils or 2 single coils with a humbucker (coil tap) option.

The Ukelady (UL1, UL2, UL3) can feature either a solid blackwood or rosewood body and like their acoustic models, the variations between models resides in the each guitar's aesthetic appointments (binding and abalone fingerboard markings).

The first lap steel model featured is the Lap Dog that features a solid bunya body with a Cole Clark Horse Shoe single-coil pickup. The other model seen is the Violap that comes with a hollow body, with an internally carved top and back. This particular model has a Cole Clark proprietary pickups built into the top/saddle and two additional humbuckers in the standard bridge and neck positions for those in need of distorted tones.

In this segment, we get to see two of Martin's newest guitar offerings, the D12 David Crosby and a Marty Robbins model. The D12 David Crosby is built from specs on a guitar David had altered from a standard 6-string to a 12-string. The D12 features D14 body style, mahogany back and sides and spruce top and a David Crosby signature between the 16th and 17th fret. The Marty Robbins model is made with Adirondack spruce top and has custom inlays including one of Texas to commemorate Marty Robbin's love for big "T".

In this video, we get to see a fully-operational band that is set up through a jukebox. As you can see in the video, the jukebox has thousands of songs spanning across several musical genres. The instruments included in this demo included acoustic guitar, banjo, tambourine, steel drum, percussion and several others that work together to re-create your favorite tracks.

Simple Amps Big Iron 34AV & 6AV Demos-Summer NAMM

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Simple Amps booth. In this video segment, we get to hear from Simple Amps' Big Iron 34AV & 6LAV amps. The Big Iron 6VAV amp comes with 6V6 and the 34AV comes with EL34s, either 12AX7 or 12AU7 preamp tubes and runs hot at about 30 watts. The Big Iron 6VAV is built upon the same platform as its sister amp, the Big Iron 6VA, and the 34AV is very similar to the Big Iron 34A, the difference lies in the second "V," which stands for the added built-in Vibrato feature controlled by knobs on the front panel.

The 50H is a 50-watt Class-AB / 15-watt Class-A output head that features Brit / USA Voicing Switch on Clean channel, Modern & Scoop voicing switches on Lead channel and is packed with an Accutronics reverb tank. The 100H is driven by 4-EL34EH power and 4-12AX7A preamp tubes. Other features include a fully independent EQ, Effect & Reverb returns on each channel and versatile voicing options on all channels (Modern, Scoop, Boost & Bright).
