Make'n Music - A Destination Location in Chicago

Inside a high-end mecca -- Make''n Music

Chicago, IL (May 8, 2008) - One of the coolest things about our On Location road trips is the chance to see famous and not-so-famous guitar-centric destinations that are associated with a particular area. Basically, any joint where guitars are made, played or displayed interests us so it''s our pleasure to document these locales and share them with you.

Here''s one that''ll make your jaw hit the ground -- Make''n Music, a Chicago guitar shop that houses an insane selection of high-end gear. The store''s owner, Teddy Gordon, understands what guitarists who play such gear look for in a guitar shop. The store is discrete -- you can easily drive right past it unless you know what you''re looking for. You enter through the back alley speak easy-style after hitting a button and waiting to be buzzed in. Then you make your way down the hallway (past Schroeder Guitar Repair and Custom Building, which is in the same building) to a cavernous room full o'' gear. The video below gives you a taste of what Make''n Music is all about.

One of the coolest things about Make''n music is the store''s selection of one-offs. The video below shows you their selection of one-off Fenders, Martins and Breedloves. You''ll also see a slew of PRS guitars, a Martin D-28 Authentic (flanked by two Blackies!), Collings acoustics and Huss & Dalton acoustics. Also, Premier Guitar''s Brett Petrusek plays a Composite Acoustic to give you an idea of what a non-wood guitar sounds like.
