Malmsteen to perform in a Fender clinic and sign autographs

Dallas, TX (April 8, 2008) -- As if three days of everything guitar wasn''t enough of a reason to make a trip to Dallas, Fender has announced that legendary shredder Yngwie Malmsteen will perform live at a Fender clinic and participate in an autograph session during the Dallas International Guitar Festival on Saturday, April 19.

Fender has also launched a Malmsteen website at fender.com/yngwie, which points to an upcoming Malmsteen tribute guitar from the Fender Custom Shop. The website features a Stratocaster silhouette with a "Coming Soon" stamp, along with photographs of Fender Custom Shop employees examining a beat-up Strat.

The Strat is an Olympic White 1971 Fender Stratocaster. Yngwie bought the guitar in Sweden in 1978 while still a teenager and performed the unusual and delicate modification of scalloping the fingerboard to help create his signature sound. The guitar has taken a beating over the years (and even a burning or two) as MalmsteenĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s main stage and studio guitar.

We''re keeping an eye out for the official announcement, until then, visit fender.com/yngwie for more information.

The older I become, the more I realize that truly, life is short, so itā€™s important to invest it with those you love and what you love

One thing in my life that has become incredibly sacred to me is the time I am desperately trying to allocate to simply making music. The older I become, the more I realize that truly, life is short, so itā€™s important to invest it with those you love and what you love. Maybe itā€™s somewhat of a lifelong musicianā€™s twisted sense of mortality or perhaps a sobering realization that playing guitar and creating music will add years to your life expectancy.

For me, playing guitar and creating music fulfills my spirit and soul like no other form of therapeutic rejuvenation. Itā€™s the reason why I consider myself fortunate at age 44 to be performing 40+ shows per year, for it keeps Trent a happy dude ā€“ it keeps my radiator hot. It also allows me to test drive my share of cool gear, which inspires me in the relentless pursuit of tone, for I ā€“ much like you ā€“ am constantly on this journey. Few things in life are as enjoyable to me as drinking beer and chasing tone. The entire staff here at Premier Guitar are beer drinkers and tone chasers ā€¦ thatā€™s how we roll!
