Two notes Audio Engineering has unveiled Captor X Pro—the flagship of the Captor family and the company’s most advanced amplifier control platform.
Developed alongside Ampete Engineering, with Captor X Pro every element has been re-engineered from the ground up. A completely new 150W Multi-Impedance Reactive Load. Precision passive multi-step attenuation. A Triple-Voiced Load Architecture. True Stereo DynIR processing. Professional analogue and digital routing.
Together they form a single hardware platform that gives players, producers and touring professionals command over every aspect of their amplifier. Whether driving a stadium backline, recording silently at 2 a.m., capturing amplifiers for AI modelling or building sophisticated stereo touring rigs, Captor X Pro delivers the consistency, flexibility and sonic authenticity demanded at the very highest level.
The Foundation: Multi-Impedance Reactive Load & Programmable Passive Attenuation
Captor X Pro is built around an all-new 150W Multi-Impedance Reactive Load, supporting 4-, 8- and 16Ω amplifiers from a single unit while preserving the dynamics, feel and harmonic response of a connected speaker cabinet. Complementing the reactive load is a relay-controlled programmable passive attenuator with multiple precision attenuation stages, allowing amplifiers to be driven into their tonal sweet spot without excessive volume. When complete silence is required, Captor X Pro transitions seamlessly into a professional direct recording solution—no speaker cabinet required.
Triple-Voiced Load Architecture
Every amplifier responds differently to the load it encounters. A Triple-Voiced Load Architecture gives Captor X Pro the flexibility to match that behavior, delivering three distinct load characteristics optimized for a far broader range of amplifier designs. Whether chasing vintage warmth, modern articulation or the repeatability required for profiling, measurement and AI amplifier capture, users can optimize the interaction between amplifier and load with absolute precision.
True Stereo DynIR Engine
At its core, Captor X Pro features the latest generation True Stereo DynIR Engine, allowing two microphones—or static impulse responses—to be positioned independently across the stereo field with separate processing chains and output assignments. Dual Mono routing extends this flexibility even further, enabling completely independent cabinet, microphone and postprocessing chains for professional live, studio and capture workflows.
DynIR Cabinet Simulation
Powered by DynIR, Captor X Pro ships with 24 premium virtual cabinets, each featuring eight industry-standard microphones and continuous microphone positioning. The result is access to the equivalent of more than 160,000 impulse responses from a single cabinet, delivering the realism, flexibility and repeatability that have made DynIR the benchmark for professional cabinet simulation.
Virtual Load Shaper
Extending reactive load technology beyond traditional hardware is Captor X Pro’s preset-based Virtual Load Shaper. By applying selectable impedance curves after the reactive load stage, players can refine amplifier feel and response without altering the amplifier or connected speaker cabinet. From tightening low-end response and increasing attack to enhancing harmonic richness and dynamic behaviour, the Virtual Load Shaper makes it easy to adapt any amplifier for different guitars, playing styles and monitoring environments.
Professional Routing & FX Architecture
Captor X Pro is built to integrate seamlessly into the most demanding guitar rigs. Its Mono Pre- and Stereo Post-FX Loop architecture provides flexible integration for external hardware processors, while balanced stereo Line/DI outputs, a dedicated speaker output, USB-C, MIDI and headphones ensure effortless connectivity across live, studio and capture environments. Whether driving a traditional tube amplifier, a hybrid rig or a modern modelling workflow, Captor X Pro adapts without compromise.
Total Control with Torpedo Remote
Every major function can be accessed directly from Captor X Pro’s front panel, while deeper editing is handled through Torpedo Remote for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android. Manage up to 128 onboard presets, configure routing, edit DynIR cabinets, customise Virtual Load Shaper settings and build complete performance rigs through an intuitive interface designed for both stage and studio.
“Captor X Pro is the culmination of everything we’ve learned from nearly two decades of designing reactive load solutions for guitarists, producers, and professional studios,” says Guillaume Pille, CEO of Two notes Audio Engineering. “Developed in collaboration with Ampete Engineering, it combines a premium reactive load, programmable passive attenuation with multiple stages down to total silence, our class-leading cabinet simulation, and professional connectivity in a single solution. Whether on stage, in the studio, or creating amplifier captures, Captor X Pro delivers the flexibility, consistency, and sound quality today’s players demand.”
Captor X Pro will be available in early 2027 at a street price of $1099.99. For more information please visit: CaptorXPro.two-notes.com
