The Sixth Annual She Rocks Awards Celebrates Outstanding Women in the Music Industry

Melissa Etheridge, members of The B-52s, and many other musicians and audio industry professionals honored at prestigious event

The sixth annual She Rocks Awards rocked the House of Blues Anaheim on January 26, 2018. Hosted by the Women’s International Music Network (the WiMN), the gala celebration featured a star studded array of honorees that includedĀ Melissa Etheridge,Ā Kate Pierson & Cindy WilsonĀ ofĀ The B-52s,Ā Exene CervenkaĀ ofĀ XĀ and members of the pioneering all-female rock bandĀ Fanny, as well many other women from all corners of the music and audio industry.

Featured performers Command Sisters delivered an upbeat B-52s medley that had the house singing along. The evening also included the premiere of a new song by WiMN founder Laura B. Whitmore and recording artist Jenna Paone called, ā€œJust a Girl,ā€ along with a moving video that delivered a message encouraging girls to dream big.Ā Laura B. WhitmoreĀ co-hosted along withĀ Kat CorbettĀ of LA radio station KROQ.Ā 

Other highlights included a fantastic performance of the Etheridge hit ā€œCome to My Windowā€ by Laura Clapp, and Olivia Rox’s rendition of the Pat Benatar anthem ā€œInvincible.ā€ Alaska Reid of Alyeska interpreted X’s hit ā€œBreathlessā€ with sultry abandon. Members of the pioneering rock band Fanny shared their new project, Fanny Walked the Earth, with a preview of their upcoming 2018 release.

The rousing finale brought together members of Fanny, The B-52s, Melissa Etheridge and performers Olivia Rox, Jenna Paone, Laura Clapp and Sabrina Lentini to deliver an inspired performance of ā€œRespect.ā€ The song, made famous by Aretha Franklin, but written by Otis Redding (whose daughter, Karla Redding-Andrews, was also honored during the event), was an energetic ending to a moving evening.Ā

The announcement in January 2024 that Two-Rock had acquired Divided by 13 Amplifiers (D13) was big news in the amp world. It was also good news for anyone who’d enjoyed rocking D13’s original, hand-made creations and hoped to see the brand live on. From the start of D13’s operations in the early ’90s, founder and main-man Fred Taccone did things a little differently. He eschewed existing designs, made his amps simple and tone-centric, and kept the company itself simple and small. And if that approach didn’t necessarily make him rich, it did earn him a stellar reputation for top-flight tube amps and boatloads of star endorsements.
