The kit includes screwdriver bits, a thickness gauge, ruler, and capo to measure neck relief, string winder, and more.
Sonora, CA (November 29, 2018) -- CruzTools today announced the GrooveTech Tech Kit for acoustic guitars.
Acoustic guitars are especially sensitive to temperature and environmental changes, which can result in neck relief that’s out of specification and affect one’s performance. Fortunately, most acoustic guitars have an adjustable truss rod but access can be a problem – especially through the sound hole.
The new GrooveTech Acoustic Guitar Tech Kit was developed specifically for this application. Central to the kit is a clever locking bit driver that allows quick interchange of tool bits. Two bits were designed for sound hole truss rod adjustment, with extended blades and a special profile ball-end tip to help find and seat an unseen truss rod nut. Headstock truss rod nuts are also covered with two socket bits.
The GrooveTech includes other staples such as screwdriver bits, a thickness gauge, ruler, and capo to measure neck relief, string winder, the very competent GrooveTech String Cutters, and a telescopic mirror for inspection of remote body cavities. All tools are professional quality and manufactured to precision tolerances.
Everything is neatly organized into a textile pouch, and an Easy Setup Guide takes the mystery out of truss rod adjustment.
The GrooveTech Acoustic Guitar Tech Kit is $59.95 (street), and available now.
“Acoustic guitar tech needs are sufficiently different from electrics.” stated Dan Parks, President of CruzTools. “So we started with a clean sheet design to address those needs, and are really happy with the outcome.”

The tool includes both metric and standard wrench sizes.
Sonora, CA (December 11, 2017) -- CruzTools today announced a second generation of their popular GrooveTech Guitar/Bass Multi-Tool that significantly boosts functionality.
For optimal playability, electric guitars and basses require setup that includes truss rod, string height (action) and length (intonation), pickup height, and tremolo systems. Temperature, humidity, and handling can affect these adjustments and impact performance. It’s therefore important for musicians to frequently inspect their instruments and make simple corrections as needed.
The GrooveTech family of Guitar and Bass Player Tech Kits are designed for complete setup, but aren’t necessarily carried with the musician. CruzTOOLS introduced their first generation GrooveTech Multi-Tool in 2008 which has been very popular, but designers envisioned improvements and spent the last few years developing a second-generation multi-tool.
Like the original GrooveTech Multi-Tool, both metric and inch hex wrench sizes are included to address worldwide producers of guitars and basses, and all truss rod sizes are ball-end for easy access. Tool component material is professional-grade S2 steel with an attractive polished-chrome finish.
A number of improvements were made to the second generation. Firstly, a 5/16” socket is included for Gibson and other truss rod nuts. Two additional hex wrench sizes – 1/16” and 5mm – were added. A precision ruler with both inch and metric scales is provided. Finally, a special one-piece body allows easy rotation and storage of components. The result is a more capable and functional multi-tool for guitar and bass players that’s easily carried with the instrument. Utility and design patents are pending on the new tool.
Pricing is unchanged at $15.95 (Street), and is available now. Overall size increased only slightly to about 4” x 1.25” x 0.75” (95 x 34 x 187mm). Weight is approximately 5 ounces (140g).
“The first generation multi-tool has been very popular with retailers and musicians alike. Nobody complained about it.” stated Dan Parks, President of CruzTools. “But we saw the opportunity for further improvement, and were able to apply for several patents as well. We’re extremely happy with the result.”

Two sizes are available–4mm and 5mm–to address most makes and models of acoustic guitars.
Sonora, CA (January 9, 2015) -- CruzTOOLS has announced two new truss rod wrenches for acoustic guitars.
Manufacturers of acoustic guitars often locate the truss rod adjustment nut inside the body at the base of the neck. As a result, access is required through the sound hole and some even require insertion of a wrench through a brace to an unseen nut, making normal hex wrenches impractical.
To address these problems, CruzTOOLS developed its GrooveTech Soundhole Drivers. The hex blade was extended for improved access, and a ball-end tip eases fit into the truss rod nut. Finally, a screwdriver-type handle provides a firm grip for confident adjustment. The blade and tip are made to precision tolerances using a professional-grade S2 material.
Two sizes are available–4mm and 5mm–to address most makes and models of acoustic guitars.
The GrooveTech Soundhole Drivers carry a street price of $12.95, making them an affordable addition to the tool box of any acoustic guitar player.
