Nashville, TN (April 26, 2010) – The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) will be opening up the summer session of America’s biggest musical instrument trade show to the public on the final day of the show, Sunday, June 20. Previously, access to the show was limited to badge-carrying manufacturers, retailers, distributors, artists and media.
The public day has been dubbed Wanna Play Music Sunday, and offers attendees a host of educational sessions and attractions. Apple will present Garage Band and Logic Pro Test Drive sessions, while a panel of Artist Relations professionals will host a How to Get Endorsed session. Additional sessions include Setting Up a Home Studio, How to Get More Gigs, Recording Tips and Tricks, and more.
Other public attractions and events include the Reunion Blues Vintage Guitars Roadshow; free guitar setups from Martin, Taylor and more; free guitar restringing from companies like D’Addario; live music and more.
"NAMM is a trade-only event," said Scott Robertson, director of marketing and communications for NAMM. "The show exists to help our members stock their stores for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. But part of our mission is to create more music makers, and if we can use the trade show to do that, it's a good thing."
Public tickets for the show are $20, with participating music retailers offering a $10 off coupon.
