Fractal Audio Launches Updated FC-6 and FC-12

Fractal Audio Launches Updated FC-6 and FC-12

The newest versions feature larger, easier-to-read footswitch "mini displays" compatible with AXE-FX III, FM9, FM3, and older version FC controllers.

FC-6 MARK II and FC-12 MARK II units have the same exciting features and capabilities as the original FC units, and are fully compatible with the flagship Axe-Fx III rackmount processor as well as the FM9 and FM3 Amp Modeler/FX Processor/Floor units. In addition, the new Mark II versions can be freely combined with their original counterparts in daisy-chain configurations, and are interchangable with their predecessors for purposes of redundancy/backup units.

Every FC-6 and FC-12 Foot Controller offers a suite of features and capabilities, incorporating years of innovation and customer feedback. For those who want simplicity, the units are virtually plug-and-play. Use ā€œEZ Modeā€ to set up or modify footswitches in seconds, tapping the switch and setting a few simple parameters to select from the many different ways to control presets, banks, scenes, effects, channels, tuner, tap tempo, looper controls, control switches, and more. Such simplicity does not come at the cost of flexibility, however, and creative users can set up custom Tap and Hold functions, change switch LED colors, customize mini-display text, and more. You can even override the functions of individual footswitches on a per-preset basis. The new models are supported with FC-EDIT, a full-featured editor built into Axe-Edit, FM9-Edit, and FM3-Edit.

FC-12 Mark II Direct Price: $749.99 - Availability: NOW SHIPPING in the USA & Canada.

FC-6 Mark II Direct Price: $549.99 - Availability: NOW SHIPPING in the USA & Canada.

Our columnist takes a good look at his guitarsā€”and a stroll down memory laneā€”via famed luthier Joe Glaserā€™s new, free Gearcheck service.

I started buying gear in junior high and Iā€™m still using some of it. My organizational skills have not really improved since then, so the inventory looks like a stamped-on ant pile. The daily 6-strings are stuffed on racks in my room and in gig bags or cases near my door, good-to-go. The less-used guitars are hidden in closets, stashed under couches/beds, and loaned out to friends. Then there are six or seven old battle axes that Iā€™ve played for years that have grown so valuable that they now spend most of their time locked in a huge gun safe in the guest room. Iā€™ve tried several times to catalogue the tools using a notebook, and then a few different long-since-dead computers. I had no idea how many guitars I owned ... until now, thanks to my friend Joe Glaserā€™s Gearcheck.

Itā€™s been eight years since the New Orleans-based artist released his last album. Heā€™s back with a record that redefines his relationship to the guitar.

It is January 24, and Benjamin Bookerā€™s third full-length album, LOWER, has just been released to the world. Itā€™s been nearly eight years since his last record, 2017ā€™s Witness, but Booker is unmoved by the new milestone. ā€œI donā€™t really feel anything, I guess,ā€ he says. ā€œMaybe Iā€™m in shock.ā€
