MMS Music and Hagstrom Guitars, the iconic Swedish guitar brand, have introduced the Hagstrom Megin electric guitar to the North American market.
In the language of old Norse, “Megin” translates to “Magic,” and – fittingly – this model blends the classic Hastrom playing experience with a Scandinavian flair.
The Megin 6-string electric features a carefully crafted mahogany long mortise and tenon set neck with a mahogany body, resulting in a highly responsive, resonant feel. Fitted with two powerful Hagstrom Custom 62 humbuckers, the Megin offers a broad range of tones, perfect for everything from muscular rhythm riffs to screaming solos. With master volume and tone knobs and 3-way toggle controls, simplicity reigns without sacrificing control on stage or in the studio.
Designed with the gigging musician in mind, the Megin is designed with a straightforward, battle-tested approach. Its wrap-around bridge enhances sustain and channels all that string energy directly back into the instrument. The guitar neck’s 25.5” scale length accommodates drop tuning as well as standard tuning.
Like all Hagstrom electric guitars and basses, the Megin includes the company’s patented H-Expander™ truss rod. Providing tension at both ends and running the entire length of the neck, the rigid yet light-weight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action and thin neck, two factors that earned Hagstrom its reputation as an astonishingly fast-playing guitar. The H-Expander™ truss rod not only provides remarkable neck stability, but it also contributes to Hagstrom’s unique tone. Longer sustain and a round attack are some of the sonic characteristics the H-Expander™ adds to the tonal essence of Hagstrom.
The Hagstrom H-Expander truss rod – where that transfer of string energy resonates from the tip of the headstock to the butt of the body – completes the mission of making Megin a naturally resonant instrument.
The Hagstrom Megin carries a street price of $949. For more information visit mmsmusic.com.
