Aaron Burns of Minneapolis, Minnesota, used to schlep a board with 11 effects. But “after getting too much grief from bandmates about too many pedals,” he created this five-effect board for use with his band Architectis Death Spiral. The lineup: Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, Caroline Guitar Company Olympia Fuzz, Resonant Field Effects Manifold Drive, Mr. Black TunnelWorm flanger, and a Jack Deville Dark Echo. This is all wired up with cables from Northeast Cable Co. “I guarantee that by the time you see this, I’ll have changed this setup,” admits Aaron. “I’ve been eyeing up a certain Caroline Kilobyte Delay....”

Checking out the pedalboards of our fellow players never gets old—and there’s so much creativity on display in this latest batch. You’ll encounter classic effects deployed in imaginative ways … ambitious switching/effect loop schemes … and a vast menagerie of hip boutique boxes.
