Jeff Loomis and Seymour Duncan Introduce Noumenon Humbuckers

Jeff Loomis guitarist

Seymour Duncan introduces Jeff Loomis Noumenon Signature Humbuckers, inspired by Jeff's early metal tone experiences with passive pickups. Available with Alnico 8 magnets for high output on 6-string and Alnico 5 magnets for tight low end on 7-string.

Before active pickups like his signature Blackouts became synonymous with Jeff Loomis’ sound in Nevermore, Arch Enemy, and his solo work, Jeff’s foundational experiences in sculpting his highly influential metal tone were forged by passive humbuckers, bought from guitar catalogs in the 1980s. The Noumenon Signature Humbuckers call back to those formidable years, as Jeff wanted an option to achieve the dynamics and control that passive pickups offer.

Jeff Loomis Unveils His Noumenon™ Signature Pickup Set

The 6-string Noumenon set is built with Alnico 8 magnets, providing high output and thick bass, while maintaining a smooth treble response. The 7-string set is built with Alnico 5 magnets, necessary for maintaining tight low end and sharp attack. All Jeff Loomis Noumenon Signature Humbuckers are available with triangular feet bottom plates for standard humbucker routes and direct mounting in Jeff’s signature guitars.

“I’m a fan of the riff,” says Jerry Cantrell. “I’m always collecting ideas, and you never know when they’re going to come, or what they’re going to turn into

The 6-string wielding songwriter has often gotten flack for reverberating his classic band’s sound in his solo work. But as time, and his latest, tells, that’s not only a strength, but what both he and loyal listeners want.

The guitarist, singer, and songwriter Jerry Cantrell, who is best known for helming Alice in Chains, one of the most influential bands in hard-rock history, is an affable, courteous conversationalist. He’ll apologize, for instance, when he’s been on a PR mission all afternoon and needs to eat something. “I’m sorry. I’m starving. I’m going to make a BLT while we finish this interview,” he says on a recent Zoom call.

“That’s bacon frying, by the way,” he adds, in case his interviewer was wondering about the sizzling sound in the background.
