Wanted: International Bands for SXSW

Ernie Ball Contest Offers Big Exposure

San Luis Obispo, CA (August 23, 2007) – Ernie Ball is re-upping its International Battle of the Bands Competition with a lucrative grand prize: an expenses-paid trip to play Austin’s famous South by Southwest Music Conference & Festival.

The 2nd International Battle of the Bands Competition is being held in conjunction with the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour 2007. Similar to Ernie Ball’s North American Battle, the International Battle gives unsigned bands from around the world the chance to win a spot on a local leg of the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour. A panel of industry judges will choose one band per stop to play live on the event’s second state. This year''s additional grand prize of getting to play SXSW in Austin is icing on the cake.

Bands wanting a crack at the Chaos Tour and the SXSW gig must upload photos, a band biography and up to five mp3 audio files to the Battle of the Bands site. Entries will be taken through September 28th. Bands must live in one of the countries on the tour schedule.

The Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour combines big name musical acts playing at an indoor music festival setting with lifestyle activities. This year’s lineup of mainstage acts includes The Used, Rise Against, Aiden, Escape the Fate, and more. The International leg of the tour starts October 12th in Australia before heading to New Zealand, Japan and Europe.

The Ernie Ball Company was the first to offer rock strings with the creation of Slinkys. Ernie Ball revolutionized the market by offering guitarists Custom-Gauge single strings. Ernie Ball also produces Music Man guitars and basses, volume pedals and accessories.
