A sampling of the bands and guitars that descended upon Chicago''s Grant Park on August 5-7, 2011.

"Guitarist John Gourley joyfully sang his heart out for what would become one of his last songs with the pictured Gretsch White Falcon. The guitar, along with the rest of the bandуs gear, was stolen after their Lollapalooza set. Among the stolen gear were a 1966 Gretsch Viking, a 1959 Guild guitar, a number of vintage Fender amps, and a slew of vintage and boutique pedals. The band is asking for any help in locating the van, a red Ford 350 with Alaska plates (FJH2440) and a black trailer, and getting their gear safely back home."

This wonky Zim-Gar was one of many guitars sold by importer Gar-Zim Musical Instruments, operated by Larry Zimmerman and his wife.

The 1960s were strange days indeed for import guitars, like this cleaver-friendly Zim-Gar electric.
