“I made a pedalboard out of plywood and 2x4s, painted it red, and have been using it for 15 years,” writes Tim Howe of Spartanburg, South Carolina. “My band, Hot as a Pepper, plays almost every week, so it gets a lot of abuse, but always works great.” He uses this combination: Line 6 wireless unit to an RMC Teese Wizard Wah, EarthQuaker Devices Talons, Mooer Funky Monkey Auto Wah, TC Electronic PolyTune, Biyang Fuzz Star to the front of a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier. In the amp’s loop are a Yamaha FL-10MII Flanger, TC Electronic Flashback Delay, Red Witch Empress Chorus, CMAT Mods Deeelay, and a TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb. The Mesa Footswitch is in front, and everything runs off a Dunlop DC Brick. A nice finishing touch: Howe keeps a brush in the middle of his pedals to keep them clean.

Checking out the pedalboards of our fellow players never gets old—and there’s so much creativity on display in this latest batch. You’ll encounter classic effects deployed in imaginative ways … ambitious switching/effect loop schemes … and a vast menagerie of hip boutique boxes.
