Guitarists can use this pedal to add more channels to their existing amplifier or enhance a solid-state power section with honest tube tone.
Hagerman Amplification has introduced the new Thermionic Reinforcer, an all-tube guitar preamplifier pedal with exceptionally versatile sonic capabilities.
Employing a pair of 12AX7 tubes running at high voltage, this pedal has enough output to directly feed a power amplifier via effects loop (or operate as a normal pedal). Guitarists can use this pedal to add more channels to their existing amplifier or enhance a solid-state power section with honest tube tone.
There are two clipping modes: classic tube overdrive, and a novel high-gain symmetrical clipping circuit recently developed by Hagerman. This proprietary new tube clipping circuit is exclusive to the Thermionic Reinforcer, allowing the pedal to deliver a more aggressive, modern sound.
Another key feature is the pedal’s Contour control, a tone circuit placed ahead of clipping stages that offers the ability to tighten the sound, akin to placing a Klon or TS ahead of the pedal.
The pedal’s Bass and Treble controls are placed post-clipping and provide a wide range of tonality from bright to dark.
Powered by standard 9-volt DC external supply, the Thermionic Reinforcer’s two clipping modes, Contour control, and Bass/Treble knobs offer an extraordinary range of options, from mild overdrive to blistering distortion.
Key features include:
- True bypass
- 38dB maximum gain
- 2 x 12AX7 tubes
- Contour, Drive, Bass, Treble, Level controls
- 9V @ 700mA power
The Thermionic Reinforcer is priced at $319 and can be purchased at hagamps.com.
