Jade Electric Pedals has launched the Blackboard Overdrive, a hand-built guitar pedal with an original soft-clipping circuit that’s designed to be highly responsive to playing dynamics and volume knob adjustments.
The Blackboard combines overdrive with a clean blend and separate bass and treble controls, allowing players to add grit while retaining clean-signal definition and shaping the sound for their guitar and amplifier.
Developed by guitarist and Jade Electric founder Danny Ousley, the Blackboard is especially suited to country music playing styles—reflecting the company’s Bakersfield roots and practical approach to gear for the stage and studio.
The pedal takes its name from the iconic Bakersfield honky tonk The Blackboard Café. Although the club closed its doors years ago, the Blackboard is still revered as the stomping ground of legends such as Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and Red Simpson.

- Two-band EQ—separate bass and treble controls for shaping low and high frequencies
- Top-mounted jacks—pedalboard-friendly positioning
- True bypass switching
- 9-volt DC via external power supply only—no battery compartment
- Hand-built in Bakersfield, California
