Aguilar Announces the AG 4M/J-HC and AG 5M/J-HC Pickup Sets

The new pickups emulate classic Stingray and J bass tones.

New York, NY (April 10, 2015) -- Aguilar, the leading edge USA manufacturer of high quality bass pickups, is pleased to announce the AG 4M/J-HC and AG 5M/J-HC pickup sets. These calibrated sets include one of Aguilar’s AG 4M or 5M pickup for the bridge position and the AG 4J-HC or 5J-HC pickup for the neck position.

The AG 4M and 5M humbucking pickups are wired in parallel to recreate the classic Stingray tone - crisp treble, articulate midrange and thunderous lows. They feature 42-gauge Formvar wire and Alnico V magnets. Gard Lewis of Roscoe Guitars says the AG 5M pickups have "all of the grit and grind of a classic Stingray pickup, but with more even string-to-string response and tighter lows."

By adding the AG 4J-HC or AG 5J-HC pickup, you can enjoy the deep, resonant tone of a neck position, Jazz Bass pickup without any 60-cycle hum. This pickup has a split-coil design that utilizes Alnico V magnets and 42-gauge Formvar wire – 43-gauge Polyester/Nylon wire for the AG 5J-HC – for classic Jazz Bass tone that works for all playing styles.

The AG 4M/J-HC and AG 5M/J-HC pickup sets offer players all of the characteristics that Aguilar pickups are known for – excellent string-to-string balance, consistency of tone and rich harmonic content. They sound great passive or active. When paired with an onboard preamp, such as Aguilar’s OBP-1, 2 or 3, bassists will have the ultimate in tonal flexibility.

Like all Aguilar pickups, the AG 4M/J-HC and AG 5M/J-HC are wound in Aguilar’s NYC factory. They are available now and carry a US street price of $199.00 for the AG 4M/J-HC and $224.00 for the AG 5M/J-HC.
