Dean Markley Talks about the Dean Markley Limited-Edition Acoustic Guitars:

DM-41
“The original model DM-41 is a sight to behold, and even more to play and hear. Gloss finish, bookmatched Indian rosewood back and sides, sitka spruce top, one-piece mahogany neck. Gold tuning pegs with tortoise-style buttons with an 18-1 ratio. Abalone purfling with maple outer edging, maple-strip ‘neck’ and ‘back’ outer-edge binding. Abalone fingerboard inlay, 24kt gold-plated stereo end pin jack, ready to accept any two pickups and come out in stereo. Compare this to the competition: the DM-41 sounds better, feels better and looks better.” $4,950 MSRP

DM-41N
“This is the same guitar as the DM-41. The name was changed because there were a couple of minor bracing movements and a thinner finish than the DM-41 giving it a beautiful and rich sounding. This particular run of DM-41N’s features beautiful three-piece necks for super stability.” $4950 MSRP

DM-J20RS
“Mini-Jumbo with cutaway, bookmatched Indian rosewood back and sides, sitka or engelmann spruce tops, gloss finish and one-piece mahogany neck. With the same basic features as the DM-41, this is a perfect sister/brother to the DM-41, except the front abalone/maple binding has an extra couple of super-thin strips of rosewood/purpleheart in the purfling that give the binding a sort of subtle ‘glow.’ This is definitely a must-see, must-hear guitar, made for a person wanting one of the finest guitars made. This guitar, and all of the Dean Markley guitars, features the ‘Perfect Feel’ Dean Markley neck contour.” $5650 MSRP

DM-J20RCS
”Mini-Jumbo with cutaway, Indian rosewood back and sides, cedar top and satin finish. All of the other features are the same as the DM-J20RS.” $5,650 MSRP

DM-J360SE
“Slope-shouldered, dreadnought-type shape, mahogany back and sides, spruce top, gold tuners, tortoise buttons, one single-coil neck pickup, volume and tone controls on top of the guitar and a one-piece mahogany neck. Reminiscent of a guitar that John Lennon played in 1964, the J360SE has a beautiful, dark tobacco sunburst finish with a yellow/orange center on the top. The woods are just outstandingly beautiful.” $3,750 MSRP

DM-J365SE
“Same as the DM-J360SE, with the addition of an under-the-bridge saddle pickup and the replacement of the tone control on the 360SE with another volume control, so you are running volume/volume controls. This allows you to run the guitar in stereo and blend the two pickups together with the volume controls. This gives the guitar fantastic acoustic-electric qualities.” $3,950 MSRP

DM-J365TB
“Under-the-saddle Piezo pickup, no volume control, same beautiful sunburst finish, stereo 24kt gold-plated end pin jack. Neck joins at the 14th fret. Large ‘Boy On Horse’ Dean Markley logo on headstock. Fantastic tone and lots of projection.” $2,950 MSRP

DM-J365N
“Same guitar as DM-J365TB, but with natural top instead of the tobacco sunburst.” $2,995 MSRP

A familiar-feeling looper occupies a sweet spot between intuitive and capable.

Intuitive operation. Forgiving footswitch feel. Extra features on top of basic looping feel like creative assets instead of overkill.

Embedded rhythm tracks can sneak up on you if you’re not careful about the rhythm level.

Maybe every guitarist’s first pedal should be a looper. There are few more engaging ways to learn than playing along to your own ideas—or programmed rhythms, for that matter, which are a component of the new DigiTech JamMan Solo HD’s makeup. Beyond practicing, though, the Solo HD facilitates creation and fuels the rush that comes from instant composition and arrangement or jamming with a very like-minded partner in a two-man band.

Three thrilling variations on the ’60s-fuzz theme.

Three very distinct and practical voices. Searing but clear maximum-gain tones. Beautiful but practically sized.

Less sensitive to volume attenuation than some germanium fuzz circuits.

In his excellent videoFuzz Detective, my former Premier Guitar colleague and pedal designer Joe Gore put forth the proposition that theSola Sound Tone Bender MkII marked the birth of metal. TakeWarm Audio’s Warm Bender for a spin and it’s easy to hear what he means. It’s nasty and it’s heavy—electrically awake with the high-mid buzz you associate with mid-’60s psych-punk, but supported with bottom-end ballast that can knock you flat (which may be where the metal bit comes in).
