"The most famous country singer in history, Hank Williams began working as a songwriter with Acuff-Rose in 1946. He debuted on the Opry three years later, after first staying on ShreveportÑ?s Louisiana Hayride, where he played this Martin D-18 guitar. A sharp dresser, he performed in stage costumes such as this suit, designed for him in 1951 by Nude the Rodeo Tailor. Williams died on New Year's Eve, 1952, after a life of musical brilliance and offstage tribulation."
