Peerless Guitars Introduces Retromatic 131 and B Series Basses

Peerless Guitars Introduces Retromatic 131 and B Series Basses
Retromatic 131

London, U.K. (December 23, 2013) -- Expanding on the critically acclaimed Retromatic P1, P2, P3 range of guitars, we are delighted to announce the release of the stylish new Retromatic 131.

The Retromatic 131 features the same headstock design as the ‘P’ range, with elegant styling included, and an even more compact body size. The lower bout dimension is 325mm and depth is 74mm. The distinctive pickguard shape is perfectly modified to accommodate the smaller body width, and once again attached directly onto the guitar. The single F Hole has also been reduced in size in keeping with the guitar proportions, all adding to a wonderful looking addition to the Retromatic guitar range.

Other than size, the marked difference with the Retromatic 131, is that it is completely hollow. Constructed from laminated maple top, back and sides, the scalloped bracing and a mahogany sound post give the arched top support, while reducing feedback, thus producing a notably comfortable, innovative and versatile guitar. In contrast to the ‘P’ series range, the top body on the 131 binding consists of white/ black/ white and the neck is bound in black. The ‘Mother of Pearl’ angled inlay on the neck and black back and sides, gives a sleek look to this stunning guitar.

The Humbuckers, again designed by Monty’s, are loaded as standard wound, at 7.8k on the bridge and 7.1k on the neck. As with the Retromatic ‘P’ series guitars, ex MOKE guitarist and top UK producer Sean Genockey was heavily involved with the R&D and prototype testing of this model. The Retromatic 131 is perhaps a reflection of what many guitarist may want for recording and gigging, all embodied in stunning and distinctive style.

It comes as no surprise that the Retromatic range has evolved into a dynamic and important new addition to the Peerless range. Peerless, traditionally known for their production of high end carved Jazz guitars, along with over 4 decades of OEM manufacture for other well known brands, has again starred with a sparkling new and innovative addition to their outstanding range of guitars. The skilled staff in the legendary Peerless plant have mastered their trade well. Their expertise, gained over the 40 years spent in the manufacture of guitars, is duly reflected in the Retromatic 131.

Earlier in the year we let you know about the new Retromatic B1 & B2 Bass which was in the final stages of development and soon to be released. Well, we are very pleased to announce that the first models have arrived in the UK and will be exhibited at NAMM in January 2014.

Retromatic B2

The Retromatic B1 & B2 bass is a fitting progression to the success of the Retromatic P1, P2, P3 guitar on entering the market.

These bold new design’s consist of the same body dimensions as the ‘P’ Series guitars. The B1 & B2 full scale neck feels perfectly balanced on the 375mm x 44mm chambered centre block body. The 864mm scale neck is 43mm wide at the bone nut, 57mm at the end fret and consists of 20 frets. A maple neck and rosewood fret board are complemented with angled Mother of Pearl inlay. The laminated maple archtop contoured body style comes in a variety of finishes, including natural, teal green, honey sunburst, ivory, black, gold, and candy apple red. These choices are then crowned with a combination of black and aged white/ black binding and nickel hardware.

Once again, from Monty's, the pickups are designed by Matt Gleeson. Matt has ‘raised the bar’ and created some extraordinary sounding tones for this very special bass guitar. The B1 model consists of a single bridge Humbucker wound at 8.7k and the B2 comes with an additional neck Humbucker wound at 7.85k. But it doesn’t stop there! As with the ‘P’ Series guitars, we have included a wonderful 6 way varitone switch. This innovation opens up endless options, from creamy vintage blues, to smooth jazz and funk, to the raunchiest sounding rock, all adding a fresh luster to the sound. These variations make it bright and dynamic, as a result of the ‘openness’ of this single ‘F’ hole, chambered hollowbody.

The B1 & B2, topped with the stylish and distinctive Retromatic headstock, also share the Retromatic truss-rod cover, and pick guard design, making the same bold, confident, statement from Peerless, shared with the ‘P’ series guitars and most recently, the Retromatic 131.

Experience the innovative Retromatic B1 & B2 bass and Retromatic 131 along with our Classic models and Archtop guitars at NAMM 23rd - 26th January 2014, Stand 2784, Hall D!
