Tao Guitars Phaeton
Well, it's only day one here at NAMM, but it's hard to imagine we'll see a more stunning six string than this Tao Guitars' Phaeton. This design has been around a few years, but pickup--a Gold Foil-inspired ribbon pickup developed in cooperation with Benedetto in France--is brand new. And its sensitive, harmonic-rich tone is a killer match for the spruce-and-mahogany hollow body. It's really expensive, but wow--what a pretty, and ingenious, piece of guitar design.

Zach loves his Sovtek Mig 60 head, which he plays through a cab he built himself at a pipe-organ shop in Denver. Every glue joint is lined with thin leather for maximum air tightness, and it’s stocked with Celestion G12M Greenback speakers.
