The FRM100TR has a thicker and fatter neck than previous Paul Gilbert models and features DiMarzio Injectors and Area ''67 pickups.

Bensalem, PA (September 30, 2011) -- Ibanez has announced the new FRM100TR, inspired by many hours of playing and performance by Paul Gilbert with the original Ibanez Fireman model.

The FMR100TR features Gilbert's Fireman reverse Iceman body shape. The solid mahogany body is well balanced and features an original Ibanez Tight-Tune bridge and tailpiece promote superior transfer of string vibration without unwanted movement. The guitar's neck is different from previous RG shapes in the Paul Gilbert series. The three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck is thicker and fatter (22mm at the first fret and 24mm at the twelfth) for a classic feel. In addition to the new neck, Paul's new signature guitar features a rosewood fretboard with taller and narrower frets than on his older PGM models. These allow for clear note definition and easy playability all the way up the neck.

The FRM100TR features DiMarzio pickups favored by Paul. The bridge and neck positions feature DiMarzio Injectors, while the middle features a DiMarzio Area '67. They are designed with hum-cancelling construction to eliminate the noise but retain single-coil tone. The pickups are designed to have a warm, modern tone compared to vintage single coil pickups, and provide a clear, tight sound. The sound stays true even under high gain settings, so solos can be clearly heard when performing with a group. The classic bright and clean sound is easy to achieve.

Similar to Gilbert's other signature models, the FRM100TR features a specific layout to keep the volume knob location in Paul's favorite spot. In addition, the guitar features a pickup selector switch and an added tone control for maximum tone shaping.
