Michael Kelly Guitars announces an expansion to its flagship Patriot Series with two new slim body models that include the Patriot Instinct SB ModShop Duncan and Patriot Decree SB Open Pore.

Patriot Instinct SB Mod Shop Duncan (MAP $879.99)

The Patriot Instinct SB Mod Shop Duncan combines ample tonal possibilities and eye-catching looks in a thin, lightweight body design. The solid mahogany body produces a full, clear tone, and now features a new 1.25” (31.75mm) slim body design that dramatically reduces the weight of the instrument. The high-gloss AAA quilted maple top, cream binding, and pearl/abalone inlays adorning the rosewood fretboard make this guitar a standout on any stage.

The Patriot Instinct SB features a pair of Seymour Duncan JB Model humbuckers with dual mini-toggle coil-split switches for extra sonic versatility. These high-output pickups have plenty of low-end punch while maintaining crisp, detailed highs, and an upper-mid bump with just the desired amounts of harmonics and sustain.

The mahogany neck with a modern “C” profile and contoured heel make the guitar both comfortable and easy to play all, the way up the fretboard. Grover tuners with a string-thru body design and a Tune-O-Matic bridge provide excellent intonation and plenty of sustain.

Patriot Instinct SB Mod Shop Duncan guitars are available in a variety of finishes that include Partial Eclipse, Scorched, and Blue Fade.

Patriot Decree SB Open Pore (MAP $479.99)

Patriot Decree SB Open Pore guitars combine boutique-inspired styling and exceptional tone, in a thin, lightweight body design. The striking open-pore texture and satin finish enhance resonance without compromising the instrument’s tone. The exotic sungkai tonewood top is paired with a slim mahogany body for a distinctly resonant and clear sound. A 22-fret ebony fingerboard produces a bright tone and allows for fast, fluid lines. The set-in mahogany neck, with its contoured heel and modern C shape, is comfortable to play and allows easy access to the upper frets.

The Great 8 Mod gives players quick and easy access to a wide range of tonal options. Its two Rockfield Select Wound Custom humbuckers each with a mini toggle switch allow to coil split the pickups. The 3-way pickup selector offers eight different unique sonic options to choose from. The Patriot SB Open Pore features a Tune-O-Matic bridge with string-thru-body design and Grover tuners and is finished with speed knobs and sleek chrome hardware.

This legendary vintage rack unit will inspire you to think about effects with a new perspective.

When guitarists think of effects, we usually jump straight to stompboxes—they’re part of the culture! And besides, footswitches have real benefits when your hands are otherwise occupied. But real-time toggling isn’t always important. In the recording studio, where we’re often crafting sounds for each section of a song individually, there’s little reason to avoid rack gear and its possibilities. Enter the iconic Eventide H3000 (and its massive creative potential).

The luthier’s stash.

There is more to a guitar than just the details.

A guitar is not simply a collection of wood, wire, and metal—it is an act of faith. Faith that a slab of lumber can be coaxed to sing, and that magnets and copper wire can capture something as expansive as human emotion. While it’s comforting to think that tone can be calculated like a tax return, the truth is far messier. A guitar is a living argument between its components—an uneasy alliance of materials and craftsmanship. When it works, it’s glorious.
