Phil Jones Bass Launches the Boosterooster PE-2 Pedal

Phil Jones Bass has introduced the Boosterooster PE-2 pedal, a precision two-band EQ, preamp, and clean booster for bass.

Packing a boost of 18dB of clean gain, the PE-2 is a compact preamp and EQ pedal engineered specifically for electric and upright bass. It restores tonal control and delivers consistent, authoritative bass tone when connecting to PAs, recording interfaces, or unfamiliar backlines — where bass tone is most often compromised.

The Boosterooster’s +18dB of clean gain will drive amplifiers into their optimal operating range, compensating for passive or low-output instruments, and maintaining signal strength through long cable runs or complex pedalboards with no distortion, no compression, no coloration.

Features of its precision EQ include Bass Control (±12dB @ 60Hz) — targets true fundamentals, adding weight and authority without boom or speaker overload. Treble Control (±12dB @ 6kHz) — adds clarity and articulation without harshness.

It is Optimized for Magnetic and Piezo Pickups An MG/PZ switch selects 2MΩ for magnetic pickups or 4.7MΩ for piezo. Piezo pickups loaded incorrectly lose low-frequency content before the signal reaches the amplifier. The 4.7MΩ input extends effective bandwidth to approximately 30Hz — well below the 41Hz low E — restoring the full character of the instrument. The pedal offers true bypass switching and uses 9–18V DC power via external supply – no battery compartment.
