Walrus Audio Announces Silt Harmonic Fuzz

In Early 2023 tube expert, Jim Hagerman of Hagerman Amplification contacted Walrus Audio with the idea of collaborating on a new tube-driven fuzz effect with the goal of achieving complex fuzz tones in the Walrusform factor. After much productive back and forth on ideas, prototypes, and late nights, the Silt HarmonicFuzz was born.

Wielding an internal pre-amp tube, the Silt is a two-in-one fuzz that creates massively rich fuzz tones perfect for chords and rhythmic parts or with the press of a switch, blooms high-end overtones into the signal before hitting the tube. Crafted specifically for those seeking a harmonically rich fuzz experience, the Silt boasts an analog circuit with the distinctive warmth of a 12AU7 tube as its drive section, letting you explore a unique and wild sonic landscape.

​Pressing the Harmonic Switch activates a harmonic mode that acts as a frequency doubler before the drive section of the pedal. This produces crispy, octave-like sounds, lending a unique edge to your lead tones.

The Contour Switch toggles between highpass, flat, and lowpass curves in the pre-tube EQ stage. Especially helpful when switching between different styles of pickups.

The Silt comes in two offerings: A textured red enclosure color with cream and black ink with artwork illustrated by Adam Forster or a flat black enclosure with simplified art in cream ink. The Silt runs at 9V or for increased gain, run the pedal at 12V DC, center negative, 300mA min. Dimensions are Height: 2.25,” Width: 3.62,” Depth: 4.79” including knobs.
