Winners to cut CDs on Larry Carlton’s Label

Nashville (August 21, 2007) - 335 Records is looking for the hottest new guitarist, singer and band in the country. The 335 label, formed by legendary guitarist Larry Carlton and his manager Robert Williams, is teaming up with TrueFire to find phenomenal talent and kick start their careers.

Interested artists must go to Larry Carlton’s website and download the entry form. The contest will involve regional competitions that will give contestants a chance to show off their stuff in front of live audiences. The first regional live competition will be conducted at Premier Guitar Festival – Boston, September 15 -16. Participants must enter the contest online before attending the Festival.

Larry Carlton is among the most listened to and in-demand guitarists in history. His repertoire includes extensive session work with a slew of artists ranging from Quincy Jones to Jerry Garcia. His heavy-hooked licks are signature elements of groups like the Crusaders and Steely Dan. He is known for being able to play creatively in any style; his work is featured on more than 100 gold-certified albums. Carlton’s solo work is beloved by music fans, too. He continues to travel the around the world headlining musical festivals and teaching Master Classes.

335 Records, with its name inspired by Carlton’s nickname, “Mr. 335” (he is known as the quintessential Gibson 335 player), is the focal point of a growing multimedia company with Mr. Carlton himself at the helm. It is Carlton’s way to bring great music to his fans, whether it is his own or the music of others he encounters while playing around the world. The label’s first release is a live recording of Carlton playing with Robben Ford in Tokyo. Carlton has also launched Mr. 335 TV which features a variety of video clips for fans of Carlton’s music.
