PG's Jordan Wagner walks us through his latest review of the 65amps
Empire guitar amplifier that is a January Web Exclusive print review,
which can be read for free in its entirety, here - .
PG's Charles Saufley is On Location in Van Nuys, CA, for the 2011 LA Amp
Show where he visits the 65 Amps room to see and hear a demo of their
newest amp prototype -- the Producer.
PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2011 NAMM Show where he visits
the 65Amps booth. In this segment, we get to see and hear our first
demo of 65Amps' new Empire 3-channel amp.
The new Empire from
65Amps is packed with a trio of classic high-gain British voices from
different eras. The first voice mirrors those from the early '60s, the
second is from the '68-'72 era, and the third is a hot-rodded '80s
tone. Interestingly enough, the tone chefs at 65 challenged themselves
to accomplish this feat with 6V6 tubes. The amp is a very loud 22 watts
but features a Master Voltage control that lets you bring the volume
down to bedroom levels. MSRP approx. $2900.

PG's Jordan Wagner is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for the 2010
NAMM Show where he visits the 65Amps booth. In this segment, we get to
check out their newest amp, the Tupelo.
The Tupelo is a
breakthrough amplifier rooted in the same lost designs as his brother
"Lil Elvis" only based on a 6V6 power section. The unique circuitry of
the "Elvis" circuit creates a platform that reveals the true character
of the power tubes to a surprising level. The 6V6 power section changes
the character of the Elvis front end to sound like outstanding examples
of American circuitry from the late 50's through the mid-sixties while
at the same time removing all the bad behaviors of those old amps. The
Tupelo is a must for players whose ears are tuned to American circuits
and sounds. Equally comfortable in every music genre, the Tupelo is a
super-versatile cousin to the Lil Elvis with more power, an astonishing
vocabulary, touch sensitivity and harmonic richness. Again loaded with
65's "Master Voltage" circuitry to make the Tupelo comfortable at any
volumes from Bedroom to Coffee House to Small Clubs to the Studio. The
Tupelo also features as passive FX Loop, 2 speaker outs and 65's unique
bias tremolo.
PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Van Nuys, CA, for the 2009 LA Amp Show where he swings by the 65Amps booth.
In this segment, we get our very first peek at 65Amps' newest (unnamed) prototype. The prototype is a 20 watt head that features a unique tone stack and undisclosed power tubes, but 65Amps' Dan Boul says that it is built upon the Lil' Elvis platform by "going vertical with it."
