Mythos Pedals Herculean Overdrive

Nashville’s own Mythos Pedals brought out an updated version of their Herculean overdrive. Since it’s totally buffer-less the silicone-based circuit has a wide open, more transparent sound. The clarity knob allows you to fine tune the high end. It will street for $199.

Westminster Effects Calcedonian Dual Reverb

There were many interesting reverbs at NAMM, but Westminster Effects new Calcedonian Dual Reverb combines plate and spring-style verbs in a single box. Each side is independent with individual decay, tone and level controls. Combing both sides created a lush wash perfect for more ambient-minded players.

Square Amps

Cool Nashville NAMM discovery alert! Square Amps out of Austin, Texas, came to the show with a collection of killer one-off tweed-, vintage-Supro-, and other old-school-voiced amps housed in old radio and even waffle-maker enclosures. But they’ve also got the standard Doyle model (lower left)—a Champ-style 1x10” with a little extra gain and a rear-panel presence control. Prices begin in the low $1,000s.

Chellee Guitars and Effects Ponyboy Overdrive V3

Chellee Guitars and Effects unveiled the handmade Ponyboy Overdrive V3 at NAMM this week. The Klon Centaur-based OD houses a simple set of controls for gain, treble, bass, and volume, but also has a center vintage/modern toggle for switching between germanium and schottky clipping diodes, providing a versatile range of tones.

3rd Power Amplification 40-Watt Kitchen Sink

No surprises at the 3rd Power Amplification NAMM booth this week: killer tone aplenty courtesy of the new 40-watt Kitchen Sink. The amp houses dual E34L power tubes and its clean channel features American and AC tones, which are fully blendable for layered clean tones. The AC voice has a normal and top-boost mode switch. Meanwhile, the gain channel delivers classic and hot-rodded plexi tones. The preamp gain has two footswitchable modes for crunch and heavier rhythms or scorching solos, and all-tube spring reverb rounds out the feature set.

Swope Guitars the Descendant

Swope Guitars unveiled a new vibrato called the Descendant at NAMM this week. Determined to build a better mousetrap and keep those strings in the saddles, Chris Swope's patented design allows a player to adjust the break angle behind the bridge and the ball ends to rest below the surface of the guitar's top.

IK Multimedia showed NAMM attendees the new iRig I/O pedalboard controller and audio/MIDI interface that's primed for both stage and studio applications.
