Boss Unveils ME-25 Multi-Effects and TU-3 Chromatic Tuner

BOSS adds to its multi-effects and tuner lineup

Anaheim, CA (January 14, 2010) ā€” BOSS is proud to announce the addition of the ME-25 Guitar Multiple Effects to its popular line of floor-based multi-effects and the TU-3 Chromatic Tuner, an updated version of the pedalboard standard TU-2.

ME-25
The compact and durable ME-25 inherits its high-quality sounds from the flagship ME-70, and packs a ton of BOSS tone tools into one amazingly affordable package.

Sporting a quick and easy user interface for professionals and newcomers alike, the ME-25 features a full compliment of COSM amplifier models. The onboard Sound Library comes loaded with 60 effects combinations suitable for a wide range of playing styles. The ME-25 runs on six AA batteries or AC power, and its portable size makes it ready to rock anywhere.

The ME-25 is stocked full of the best BOSS effects ā€” distortions, overdrives, modulation effects, Delay, Reverb, Harmonist, and many more. The built-in expression pedal controls a number of pedal effects, including wah, octave up/down, and a unique freeze effect. Three heavy-duty footswitches allow the user to select sounds and perform other functions, such as accessing the built-in tuner, tapping in delay times, and enabling the SOLO feature.

The ME-25 is the first multiple effect processor at this price point to include BOSSā€™ renowned COSM amp-modeling technology. Thereā€™s a range of classic amps from clean combos to raging stacks, along with a Super Stack function that gets big amp tone from a small practice amp. A 38-second looper is also included for real-time sound-on-sound recording.

The ME-25 also includes USB connectivity, allowing users to stream audio and other data back and forth with their computer. A powerful librarian is available as a free download to manage sounds, and the ME-25 is bundled with Cakewalk SONAR 8.5 LE for multi-track audio and MIDI recording.

The ME-25 will be shipping in January with a retail price of $276.50.

TU-3
The TU-3 is the stompbox tuner for the next generation of guitarists and bassists, retaining all the features of its predecessor while adding many new tricks of its own.

BOSS has been the industry leader in instrument tuning technology since 1983, when it introduced the TU-12, the worldā€™s first automatic chromatic tuner. This technology was later integrated into the popular BOSS compact pedal format with the TU-2, a stompbox that has gone on to become the bestselling pedal of all time. The TU-3 simply makes the best even better by adding a number of functional enhancements to the originalā€™s solid specs.

Housed in a rugged BOSS stompbox chassis, the TU-3 is built to last. The new high-brightness meter mode improves visibility under bright sunlight, and a newly-designed 21-segment meter light ensures super accurate and visable tuning. The proprietary BOSS Accu-Pitch function visually verifies when the target pitch is attained. The sound output is muted while the tuner is on, allowing players to tune silently on stage.

Tuning modes include Chromatic and Guitar/Bass, which allows players to tune by string number, now with support for seven-string guitars and six-string basses. The TU-3ā€™s LED meter and arrow indicators clearly show when the instrument is in tune, with two different display modes to choose from.

To address the growing popularity of drop tunings in metal and hard rock music styles, Flat Tuning mode allows players to calibrate the TU-3 for tunings up to six half-steps below standard pitch. The tunerā€™s reference pitch can be adjusted as well, over a range of 436-445Hz.

The TU-3 will be shipping in January with a retail price of $160.50.

LA LOM from left: Jake Faulkner, Nicholas Baker, and Zac Sokolow

Guitarist Zac Sokolow takes us on a tour of tropical guitar styles with a set of the cover songs that inspired the trioā€™s Los Angeles League of Musicians.

Thereā€™s long been a cottage industry, driven by record collectors, musicologists, and guitar-heads, dedicated to the sounds that happened when cultures around the world got their hands on electric guitars. The influence goes in all directions. Dick Daleā€™s propulsive, percussive adaptation of ā€œMisirlouā€ā€”a folk song among a variety of Eastern Mediterranean culturesā€”made the case for American musicians to explore sounds beyond our shores, and guitarists from Ry Cooder and David Lindley to Marc Ribot and Richard Bishop have spent decades fitting global guitar influences into their own musical concepts.
