BSM Unveils the Galaxy 1011

A faithful copy of the original AIWA TP-1011 that was used by Ritchie Blackmore.

Waldmohr, Germany (May 9, 2017) -- The BSM model GALAXY 1011 is a faithful copy of the original AIWA TP-1011 electronics, generating Ritchie's AIWA tone. The microphone preamp of Ritchie's AIWA had the headroom to reproduce the original Fender Stratocaster pickup's clear and undistorted tone. Many players would surely perceive this as suboptimal, but the mic preamp was actually designed for the weak signals from microphones, not for use with guitar pickups. This circumstance was highly appreciated by Ritchie. When the volume control is fully opened, the mic preamp generated this discreet and subtle crunch sound, perfect for punchy solo parts and power chords. By lowering the volume control a little bit, Ritchie received his clean tone at unity gain – something Ritchie regarded as useful as well. In principle, he could simply retrieve the crunch feature of the AIWA mic preamp via volume control without causing a significant volume drop for his lead and rhythm tone. As a starting point, Ritchie dialed in a mic-level position at 12 o'clock on the machine. Starting at the 1 o'clock position, the crunch slowly begins to mix with a fuzz signal because the electronic starts to overload now. Blackmore used this fuzzy settings also live and in the studio.
