Rockin'', Votin'', And Bootleggin''

from Virginian-Pilot

Last night, at their tour''s fifth stop, Virginia Beach, Pearl Jam delivered a rockin'' show with an intro from the Kings of Leon. Here''s PJ''s review. Before the show, Pearl Jam rocked the vote as well. Along with HeadCount.org, the band pregamed with a voter registration session. Check it out here. Colonel Robertson

from Kingston Whig-Standard

Ed Robertson, one of Barenaked Ladies'' singer/guitarists, has been asked to serve as Honorary Colonel of the Canadian Forces Transport and Rescue Squadron. Apparently, he has quite a military history: "Now I''ve passed the naval, the army, the air force, and the search and rescue technician physical tests," Robertson said. Here''s the scoop.

Michael Anthony Petition

from JAY

Although this particular petition is 99,984 signatures away from its 100,000 goal, "The VH Faithful" hope to eventually return Anthony to his rightful place: next to Eddie, Alex, and Dave.

Dick Daleā€™s propulsive, percussive adaptation of ā€œMisirlouā€ā€”a folk song among a variety of Eastern Mediterranean culturesā€”made the case for American musicians to explore sounds beyond our shores, and guitarists from Ry Cooder and David Lindley to Marc Ribot and Richard Bishop have spent decades fitting global guitar influences into their own musical concepts.
