Gore Pedals Releases the Cult Germanium Overdrive, Filth Fuzz, and Gross Distortion

Three pedals that share a common theme: extreme dynamic sensitivity.

San Francisco, CA (July 5, 2016) -- Gore Pedals announces the release of three new distortion effects for guitar: Cult Germanium Overdrive, Filth Fuzz, and Gross Distortion.

Gore’s pedals share a common theme: extreme dynamic sensitivity. They are designed to telegraph every nuance and variation of the player’s touch.

“After writing reviews of hundreds of stompboxes over the years, there were always a few pedals that I wished existed,” says Gore. “So I built them.”

Gore views the Cult Germanium Overdrive as a mutant grandchild of the germanium boosters of the 1960s. According to early adopter Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses, Crystal Method, Pink, Dead Daisies), “This is the first overdrive I’ve heard in a long while that has its own voice. It pushes your amp in the perfect way. It’s more expressive than anything else I’ve encountered. It’s instantly become an essential part of my tone.” Guitar Player magazine called it “the most dynamic overdrive we’ve heard.” The MSRP is $199.

Filth Fuzz was created to deliver a vast array of fuzz colors via a simple interface. “Filth is amazing,” says guitarist David Torn (David Bowie, John Legend, Jeff Beck, Madonna, and solo artist). “I love it. So many, many sounds. I dig the way they feel, and how changeable that feel is.” Producer Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Bad Religion) is more succinct: “Filth is pretty f’in great.” The MSRP is $269.

Gross Distortion began as a self-imposed design challenge: How many distortion colors could coexist in a single stompbox? “My goal was 144 tonal variations—that’s why it’s called ‘Gross,’” says Gore. “I managed to get 158 tones via a network of switchable clipping diodes. I find it indispensible for studio work, especially for overdubs and doubling.” The MSRP is $279.

All models are now shipping. Joe Gore pedals are available in the U.S. through Vintage King Audio, and outside of the U.S. through M1 Distribution’s network of dealers.
