MakeMusic Announces SmartMusic for iPad

MakeMusic, Inc. today announced the official release of the widely anticipated SmartMusic iPad app, which is now available in the Apple App Store.

Minneapolis, MN (May 7, 2013) -- MakeMusic, Inc. today announced the official release of the widely anticipated SmartMusic iPad app, which is now available in the Apple App Store. The new interactive music education app delivers the revolutionary functionality pioneered in the desktop version of SmartMusic, including quality practice tools, assessment, and accompaniment features-all for use on the iPad, which has been widely adopted by the education marketplace.

"SmartMusic has become the standard music learning software for students and music educators throughout the United States, and creating a SmartMusic app for the iPad was a natural evolution for our groundbreaking product to provide the most advanced tools for our educators and students on a mobile platform," said Karen VanDerBosch, CEO. "We are elated to be able to respond to the requests of so many of our educators by transforming how students learn and perform music using the iPad. It's a privilege to work together with so many music educators, and we are committed to delivering innovative music solutions in ways that address our educators' needs.

Features:

  • Music on screen
  • Practice with high quality accompaniments
  • Practice specific measures at your desired speed
  • Record, compare and save performances
  • Select start and stop measures
  • See how you performed with red/green notes assessment
  • Support for brass, percussion, string, woodwinds, and voice

Along with a SmartMusic annual subscription, the app gives unlimited access to SmartMusic's expansive repertoire library, including over 50 method books, nearly 50,000 skill building exercises and a combined 22,000+ solo and ensemble titles by major publishers, such as Alfred, Hal Leonard, Belwin, Kjos, Barnhouse and others. The method books, solo and ensemble literature, jazz improvisation, and vocal skill-building exercises that have made SmartMusic invaluable in the music classroom, and as a practice companion for students, are now available for students to use on iPads anytime, anywhere.

"When we first started to demonstrate SmartMusic on the iPad at music educator conventions over the winter, we were amazed by the tremendous excitement and positive feedback we received from music educators and students alike," stated Michael Williamson, SmartMusic Product Manager. "We were able to take many of the suggestions we received and include them into this debut version. We will continue to work with our music educators to build upon the many innovative features of this initial release." With more schools adopting one-to-one iPad programs and the acceptance of 'bring-your-own-device' into the classroom, SmartMusic on the iPad provides the most robust music learning software available on any mobile platform.

SmartMusic on the iPad is available for FREE on the Apple App Store and joins the growing family of MakeMusic mobile products, including SmartMusic Inbox and Finale Songbook for music notation. The ability for students to receive and submit assignments will be added to the SmartMusic app this fall.
