London, England (November 2, 2018) -- Mark Knopfler is premiering the new single "Back On The Dance Floor" from his upcoming ninth solo studio album Down The Road Wherever (out November 16 on British Grove Records via Blue Note).

Recorded by Knopfler at British Groveā€”his West London studioā€”Down The Road Wherever features 14 new songs inspired by a wide range of subjects, including Knopflerā€™s early days in Deptford with Dire Straits, a stray soccer fan lost in a strange town, the compulsion of a musician hitching home through the snow and a man out of time in his local greasy spoon diner.

And manyEB-6 basses sport an SG-style body shape, so they do look exceedingly modern. (Itā€™s easy to imagine a stoner-rock or doom-metal band keeping one amid an arsenal of Dunables and EGCs.) But the earliest EB-6 basses didnā€™t look anything like SGs, and they arrived a full year before the more famous Fender.
