Cort Introduces the MR720F

A sustainably designed guitar that uses alternative woods.

Seoul, South Korea (January 14, 2019) -- Cort introduces the MR720F, a guitar that takes the concept of a natural acoustic to a new level with an alternative material to Rosewood. As with other acoustic-electrics in the MR Series, the MR720F is a dreadnought cutaway that’s representative of Cort’s mission to provide the highest-quality traditional instruments with superb workmanship and modern features. The MR720F successfully brings vintage into the 21st century at an unbeatable value.

On the MR720F, Cort starts with a solid Sitka spruce top, a popular choice that provides an ideal balance between strength and flexibility, along with a versatile sonic character. On the back and sides, Cort introduces its EvoRose, an evolution of the popular rosewood. EvoRose is the culmination of Cort's research and development for an alternative composite material that retains the best of rosewood's visual and sonic characteristics. The use of the alternative EvoRose honors guidelines set forth by CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, which added rosewood to its protected species list in early 2017.

Cort returns to natural, sustainable materials with the MR720F’s 20-fret mahogany neck, while the fretboard and bridge are ovangkol. Cort’s exclusive scooped surface bridge enhances sustain with greater string angle from the saddle to the body, while reducing tension on the strings across the neck for less finger fatigue and improved playability. The nut width is 43 mm(1 11/16inch) on a 24.3-inch scale. Vintage-style open-gear machine heads provide tuning stability and complement the overall classic look of this model, as does the multiple abalone rosette.

Cort has modernized the MR720F’s classic dreadnought body with a Venetian cutaway for easy high-fret access. The Fishman Presys Onboard Preamp System provides a 3-band EQ, LED tuner, and phase control, and delivers the MR720F’s natural acoustic sound to an amplification system for both live and recording applications.

The MR720F’s natural satin and gloss shines with a high-tech finish that’s strong and resistant to scratches while being lightweight to improve the natural acoustic resonance of the body for a full-bodied and rich tone.
