Gretsch Guitars Launches Center-Block P-90 Models

Gretsch

Each model features FideliSonic 90 pickups and optional Bigsby trem.

Gretsch today expands the Streamliner Collection with the all-new G2622T-P90 Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut P90 with Bigsby, G2622-P90 Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut P90 with V-Stoptail, G2655T-P90 Streamliner Center Block Jr. Double-Cut P90 with Bigsby and G2655-P90 Streamliner Center Block Jr. Double-Cut P90 with V-Stoptail.

These models are designed for three simple things — high gain-friendly performance, slick, easy playability and spectacular style.

The Streamliner Center Block and Center Block Jr.'s sound is the perfect blend of brash and brawn with a chambered spruce center block driven to the limit by all-new FideliSonic 90 pickups. These single-coil pickups retain the full warm tone of a traditional P90 with a distinct top-end that is articulate and well-defined. The lightweight spruce center block runs the length of the mahogany body (16" for Center Block and 14" for Center Block Jr.), reinforcing the arched top while eliminating undesired feedback for volume-friendly performance on modern stages.

Sonic power is harnessed and shaped by the traditional control layout—neck and bridge pickup volume controls, a master tone control, master volume control and three-way pickup toggle switching. A fast-playing 12"-radius laurel fingerboard with unique oval inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets sits atop the white-bound nato neck with a thin "U"-shaped profile—ideal for chord work or fiery riffing, while the anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and synthetic bone nut grants astounding tuning stability and accurate, slip-free intonation.

The G2622T-P90 features a Bigsby-licensed B70 tailpiece andcomes in Brownstone, Forge Glow and Gunmetal, while the G2622-P90 with V-Stoptail is offered in Claret Burst and Havana Burst.

The G2655T-P90 features a Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato tailpiece and is available in Two-Tone Midnight Sapphire and Vintage Mahogany Stain, Two-Tone Mint Metallic and Vintage Mahogany Stain or Two-Tone Sahara Metallic and Vintage Mahogany Stain. The G2655-P90 with V-Stoptail comes in Brownstone and Claret Burst.

For Pink Floyd fans, the visuals give away that this is David Gilmour along with his longtime bassist Guy Pratt and drummer Adam Betts, who appear on Gilmour’s new Luck and Strange, navigating the band’s classic “Time.”

The incendiary giant of psychedelic guitar concludes his 21-date world tour this weekend in New York City. In this photo essay, PG’s editorial director reports on the opening date of the sonic architect of Pink Floyd’s historic five-concert run at MSG.

NEW YORK CITY–There’s a low, sustained tone that David Gilmour extracts from his Stratocaster at the beginning of Pink Floyd’s “Sorrow.” It’s the intimidating growl of a robotic tiger–or, more realistically, a blend of low-string sustain, snarling overdrive from a Big Muff, and delay that saturates the air and seems to expand into every bit of open space. It’s almost overpowering in its intensity, but it is also deeply beautiful.
