NEXI Industries Unveils the Metal Distortion

A take on classic tones from the '70s and '80s.

Amsterdam, Netherlands (May 24, 2017) -- True bypass and true metal, NEXI Industries’ new Metal Distortion (MTD-01) electric guitar effect pedal has the aggression and heavy tone players need for the right amount of attitude on their pedal board. Metal Distortion comes fully loaded and enables players to simply plug ‘n play and preach to the choir of head bangers.

Metal distortion has been used by the hardest rocking acts of the '70s and '80s, but it’s currently used in today’s industrial metal. Whether the player is trying to channel the tones of yesteryear or looking to shred up a modern mix, NEXI’s Metal Distortion achieves the desired effect with three standard knobs on the lighted-rim interface: Distortion, Tone, and Volume. Dial up distortion to increase compression on the signal, making it grittier and harsher—or dial it down to make it cleaner. Adjust the brightness or darkness with Tone, and determine how much distortion is heard in the mix with Volume.

Like all NEXI pedals, Metal Distortion was designed by boutique effect pedal creators, the self-declared “Vintage Analog Protection Squad,” who are committed to providing a unique tone without compromise. Metal Distortion can be used standalone with a 9V battery or plugged right into the external power supply of NEXI’s revolutionary pedal board. Aptly named “The Solution,” this heavy-duty board has a two-channel switch and three-step booster to satisfy every guitarist’s ego. It’s also equipped with a built-in tuner and power supply, two charging docks for tablet or smartphone, and covers that protect ports against dirt and beverage spills (splash-proof). Players are free to head bang, knowing that their board—and their Metal Distortion pedal—are safe and sound.

Keith Urban’s first instrument was a ukulele at age 4. When he started learning guitar two years later, he complained that it made his fingers hurt. Eventually, he came around. As did the world.

Throughout his over-30-year career, Keith Urban has been known more as a songwriter than a guitarist. Here, he shares about his new release, High, and sheds light on all that went into the path that led him to becoming one of today’s most celebrated country artists.

There are superstars of country and rock, chart-toppers, and guitar heroes. Then there’s Keith Urban. His two dozen No. 1 singles and boatloads of awards may not eclipse George Strait or Garth Brooks, but he’s steadily transcending the notion of what it means to be a country star.
