PureSalem Guitars Announces the SalemFuzz Project

PureSalem Guitars will introduce three to five new fuzz pedals a year in very limited runs.

Miami, FL(February 4, 2016) -- PureSalem Guitars officially launches The SalemFuzz Project. A joint collaboration between PureSalem Guitars and Brian Nelson of 323 Effects. Bringing our love of the FUZZ to the masses, the idea behind the SalemFuzz Project is based on the old record collecting clubs. PureSalem Guitars will introduce 3-5 new fuzz pedals a year in very limited runs of 25 to 12 pedals. Hand made in the USA and using the finest quality components are first three offerings are the Honey Bunny, Pink Beard & Attack Captain Fuzz.

SalemFuzz PinkBeard (limited to 25)
Modern, high-gain transistor fuzz. And this thing is LOUD!!! It can handle anything from smooth distortion to over-the-top nasty fuzz. The three-position toggle switch takes the pedal from normal fuzz tones in the right position to a gated, splatty feel with fizzy decay in the left position, all while remaining musical and useful. The middle position takes you into synthy video game territory and lets the notes “bloom” slightly during the sustain. And for a more fizzy note decay, roll back on your guitar’s volume knob! Use the starve control to affect the voltage supplied to the circuit – depending on the toggle setting this can either smooth out the higher gain settings or enhance the sputters and splats. Playing higher up the neck can even cause an octave up effect! The starve, fuzz, and toggle are all very interactive, making for tons of tonal possibilities..

SalemFuzz HoneyBunny (limited to 25)
Straight-forward fuzz tones! With its tight but meaty low end and scooped mid’s you’re nailing 90’s rock rhythm right out of the box. And the HoneyBunny has more than enough gain on tap to satisfy even the stingiest of gain hogs. Don’t want to get lost in the mix? Crank up the tone knob and let your notes shine. Even with the fuzz turned to 11, string definition is still in tact. Whether you’re rocking single coils or humbuckers, this pedal is a perfect match!

SalemFuzz Attack Captain (limited to 12)
Based around iconic classic 60’s fuzz sounds, the Attack Captain will send you “Rite” back in time to the glory days of fuzz! Biker Fuzz Cults approved - the Attack Captain is a high spirited , off -kilter split personality fuzz. There is a lot of tone to be found in this purple box !!! With some knob turning, it’s easy to dial in a more modern fuzz tone. This thing has plenty of useable settings that can take you anywhere you want to go. OR just use the method the early psych rockers used and dime everything for that stabby, buzzy, biting fuzz! Try not to play Cream, Iron Butterfly, Greenbaum, or Stooges. I dare you! !!High quality components are used throughout. Relay based bypass makes for silent and smooth true-bypass switching. No annoying POPS that are common with high gain effects. It’s housed in a sturdy aluminum enclosure and topped with white screen printed graphics and large white fluted knobs. Standard 9V DC negative ground power adapter.

Each pedal will be $225.

This four-in-one effects box is a one-stop shop for Frusciante fans, but it’s also loaded with classic-rock swagger.

Great, lively preamp sounds. Combines two modulation flavors with big personalities. One-stop shop for classic-rock tones. Good value.

Big. Preamp can’t be disengaged. At some settings, flanger effect leaves a little to be desired.

A classic-voiced, 3-knob fuzz with power and tweakability that surpass its seemingly simple construction.

A classic-voiced, well-built fuzz whose sounds, power, and tweakability distinguish it from many other 3-knob dirt boxes.

None, although it’s a tad pricey.

You’ve probably seen me complain about the overpopulation of 3-knob fuzz/OD pedals in these pages—and then promptly write a rave review of some new triple-knobber. Well, I’m doing it again. SoloDallas’ Orbiter, inspired by the classic circuit of the 1966 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, stings and sings like a germanium Muhammad Ali. Mine’s already moved to my pedalboard full-time, because it delivers over-the-top fuzz, and allows my core tones to emerge.
