PG’s John Bohlinger hung with Shaun Morgan and Dale Stewart of Seether during a bone-crushingly loud rehearsal in Nashville as the band geared up for another tour.
Morgan exclusively plays his signature Schecter models. This rock ’n’ roll machine features a mahogany body, a single Duncan-designed pickup and a volume control. The Schecters are strung with Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky (.011–.054) for drop tunings and Ernie Ball Paradigm .011–.048. Morgan uses Dunlop 1 mm Tortex Fin picks.
Morgan goes with a rackmount version of a Mesa/Boogie Lone Star for his clean tone. The Lone Star runs into Mesa 4x12 and 2x12 cabs loaded with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. The amp lives in a rack built by tech Bryan Jones that also houses a Furman P-1800 AR Power Conditioner, Peterson StroboRack tuner, two Sennheiser 2050 wireless units, and a tucked below the amp sits a Whirlwind Multiselector 4X.
A pair of Mesa/Boogie Cab Clones allow Morgan to feed a direct signal to FOH.
For dirtier tones, Morgan carries two Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifiers.
Morgan uses pedals primarily between songs for ambient musical segues. The signal goes from the wireless to a Dunlop Jerry Cantrell signature Cry Baby wah, Boss BF-3 Flanger, Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble, and a pair of Boss delays (DD-3 and DD-7). A Whirlwind Selector is used to move between the Mesa/Boogie amps and a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ supplies the juice.
Both in the studio and on tour, Dale Stewart plays his Schecter Diamond signature model. These basses feature a mahogany body and two EMG 35HZ pickups, and are strung with Ernie Ball Power Slinky (.055-.110) strings.
Stewart runs two Hartke LH1000s into four Hartke 4x10 cabs. An Avalon U5 runs a direct signal to FOH.
Stewart runs his bass into a Sennheiser 500 wireless unit that feeds his pedalboard. On the floor, the signal hits a Boss TU-3, Boss BF-3 Flanger and a Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive pedal, all powered by a Dunlop DC Brick.
