PG's Perry Bean hung with Blake Ibanez, Chris Whetzel (above left), and Nick Trip of the upstart Texas thrash-metallers during the Nashville stop on the end of their tour promoting the group’s latest album, Nightmare Logic.
Blake Ibanez tours with a Jackson RR1 and a Jackson RRMG Pro, both loaded with Lace Drop & Gain pickups. Both guitars are strung with Ernie Ball Super Slinky (.009–.042) gauge strings.
Here's Blake's backup Jackson RR1 with another set of Lace Drop & Gain pickups.
Blake runs a 1986 Marshall JCM 800 2203 100-watt head with an effects loop mod into a Marshall 1960A cabinet loaded with Celestions.
Blake plugs his Jacksons into a Line 6 G70 Wireless. From there, the signal hits a TC Electronic PolyTune, Ibanez TS9, Boss RC-3 Loop Station (which runs through a DI), and an Ibanez DE-7 Delay/Echo is in the amp’s effects loop. A Voodoo Lab PP2 supplies the juice.
Chris Whetzel tours with two Dunable R2 basses. Both feature Lace Aluma-P pickups and are strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (.050–.105) strings.
Here's Chris' backup Dunable R2.
For his amp, Chris' rack houses an Ampeg SVT-7 Pro along with a BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer (which sits in the effects loop) and a Furman M8-x2 Power Conditioner. The SVT-7 feeds an Ampeg 6x10 cab.
On the floor, Chris keeps a modest board handy. He plugs his Dunables into a Line 6 Relay G70 wireless that sends the signal to his TC Electronic PolyTune, MXR Bass Preamp, and Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini. A Truetone 1 Spot powers the board.
Guitarist Nick Stewart tours with two Gibson Explorers: one finished in natural mahogany, the other in Heritage Cherry. Both feature Lace Drop & Gain pickups and are strung with Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009–.042) gauge strings.
Nick runs a 2010 Engl Ritchie Blackmore Signature 100 into a Mesa/Boogie 4x12 cabinet loaded with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.
Nick's pedalboard starts with a Line 6 G70 wireless unit. From there, the signal hits a TC Electronic PolyTune, Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini, and an ISP Decimator. A Voodoo Lab ISO 5 supplies the juice.
