Athens, Greece (December 19, 2019) -- We are excited to announce our newest creation, a Killer overdrive/ vibrato effect pedal!
Killer V was built after the urge to emulate the tones produced by some very cool and unique amplifiers born in California, USA in the '50s and '60s, with a distinct, true pitch-shifting vibrato circuit.
With every detail in mind we copied the behavior, sound and feel of the preamp, phase inverter, power amp and the compression/sag of tube rectification found in these designs. Applying JFET technology and an internal voltage multiplier for high headroom we managed to recreate not only the overdriven sounds but the lower gain / clean sounds of these amps as well.
The most important part was emulating the LFO and the dual phase shift modulation stages to create mesmerizing true pitch shifting (frequency modulation) vibrato, unlike most other tube amps that have tremolo effect mislabeled as "vibrato". We have also added the option of placing dry (unmodulated) signal in parallel with the wet (modulated) signal thus creating whirling phaser / vibe sounds.
Just like in the original amps the volume knob controls the amount of gain. An internal switch controls the gain structure / range to adapt to the most significant preamp circuit changes the original designs saw through their years of production . Killer V’s 2 band EQ circuit was designed to behave exactly like the tone controls in these amps. Also true to these amplifier designs, a voicing switch selects between Normal, Bright and sparkly or Mellow and jazzy sounds.
Killer V features soft-touch true bypass switching via a high-quality relay and operates with external 9V DC power supply. Max current consumption 45mA.
Killer V is now available to order via selected dealers and our online store.
