Aristides Instruments Presents the 010 Electric Guitar

Instead of using select woods like other manufacturers, Aristides uses a proprietary material called Arium.

Haarlem, Netherlands (March 25, 2014) -- Aristides Instruments presents the 010 electric guitar. The model brings modern day technology and innovation to traditional 25.5” scale, three pickup style guitars that haven’t evolved for over 30 years. The most notable difference is the lack of wood used to build the instrument. Instead of using select woods like other manufacturers, Aristides uses a proprietary material called Arium – a material designed with perfect acoustic properties. Customers can place orders now through authorized dealers or custom order directly from the factory.

The 010 is a one piece body and neck constructed of Arium. The 25.5” scale length guitar features an ebony compound 10” to 14” radius fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. The 1.65” Graph Tech nut and ‘C’ profile neck are specifically designed for playing comfort and maximum performance. Hardware includes Sperzel locking tuners, a choice between the Hipshot US Contour bridge or a Wilkinson VS100N tremolo bridge, and Schaller strap locks. Stock pickups are the Seymour Duncan USA TB-5 in the bridge, APS-2rwrp in the middle and APS-2 in the neck teamed with one push/pull master volume pot for coil splitting and one master tone control. Available finishes include Red Metallic, Blue Metallic, Matte Black, Matte White, Gold and Aluminum. Each guitar is outfitted with an anti-theft security microchip and ships with a custom made heavy duty case and an Aristides leather strap.

The history of Aristides Instruments begins in 1995 when Aristides Poort teamed with the Technical University Delft to develop a material with perfect acoustic properties. By evaluating the woods traditionally used in making musical instruments, analysis led to a technical study of cell structures and the differences between them. If he could answer the question “What happens to a sound wave in a material at a cell level?” it would then be possible to design the ideal cell structure. 15 years of research ultimately led to the development of a tone material called Arium.

By 2007, Aristides Instruments started developing guitars with the new material. Focused on achieving incredible playability, innovative design and utilizing the acoustic properties of Arium, they teamed with world renowned Bouwmeester van Rens design agency to create their models. Since their development, the guitars have received international recognition for their revolutionary achievements in both the musical and design worlds.

Aristides Instruments is not the first to build instruments out of materials other than wood. But Aristides Instruments is different. Arium has been specifically developed to not only equal, but also improve the quality and performance of a material used to build a musical instrument. Arium has no fiber structure. This allows it to vibrate three dimensionally, increasing sustain and volume. Arium also does not contain water so it is more stable and requires less maintenance. By creating a one piece constructed musical instrument using Arium, sound waves can resonate throughout the entire instrument without disruption providing the player and listener with an improved aural experience.
