Derek’s backline consists of a trio of Fender Super Reverbs: a ’64, ’65, and a ’66. The Super head was made by Atlanta amp guru Jeff Bakos, who has done a lot of work for Derek and Susan.
Trucks’ only effect: a TC Electronic PolyTune tuner.
For slide, Derek uses a signature Dunlop glass slide that was patterned after the Coricidin bottle slides that Duane Allman used.
When acoustic tunes such as “Idle Wind” or “Calling Out to You” appear in the set list, Trucks reaches for this 1934 Martin 0-17H.
Trucks pulls out this Cherry Red 1965 Gibson ES-335 each night for “Part of Me.” The rhythm tone is so distinct that Trucks felt he needed to bring the axe on the road.
For a backup to Trucks’ main SG, this Gibson Derek Trucks Signature SG does the trick. It has a mahogany body and Tune-o-matic bridge and is loaded with a pair of ’57 Classic humbuckers.
This 1992 Gibson ’61 Reissue SG is used for alternate and capo’d tunings throughout the night, depending on the set list.
Derek’s main axe, this Gibson Custom Shop ’61 Dickey Betts Signature SG, is a copy of an SG that was played by both Dickey and Duane Allman. This replaced his other main SG (with all the autographs) about two years ago.
Occasional TTB bassist Eric Krasno uses a trio of pedals, plugging into two Pigtronix pedals (a Bass Envelope Phaser and a Bass Fat Drive) before going into his trusty Boss TU-3 tuner.
Krasno's Ampeg Heritage SVT-CL is a 6550-loaded 300-watt head powering an Ampeg 8x10 cab.
This 1969 Fender P bass was converted to a P/J and given to guitar tech Ryan Murphy by original TTB bassist Oteil Burbridge when he left the band.
On tunes such as “It's So Heavy,” Krasno reaches for this ’60s Gibson EB-2 bass.
Krasno's P bass was put together with vintage parts: a ’75 body with a ’78 neck.
Susan Tedeschi follows her husband's amp recipe, using a pair of vintage Fender Super Reverbs (both are from 1965). Her main one was hand wired by famed amp tech George Alessandro.
Susan's main guitar is a sunburst 1970 Strat.
This D’Angelico has been one of Susan’s favorite guitars for many years—especially for playing leads. It has been used on many of her recordings and on the road with her for at least 10 years.
On the floor, Tedeschi uses a stock Dunlop wah pedal along with a Moollon overdrive for solo boosts. Finally, her signal goes through a Boss TU-3 tuner.
The guitar most associated with Tedeschi is this ’93 Fender American Standard Tele that bears the signatures of some of her heroes, including John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, “Gatemouth” Brown, and more.
