San Diego, CA (October 30, 2015) -- The neck of your instrument is arguably the most important component when it comes to playability, and Kiesel Guitars and Carvin Guitars Custom Shop guitars and basses have the strongest, most stable necks you can get! The Custom Shop pays a great deal of attention and care to our guitar and bass necks so that you don't have to.
To start with, we utilize a lengthy conditioning process on all our neck and fingerboard woods in our state-of-the-art de-humidification chambers. This process removes any stress in the wood, which helps prevent future warping or twisting. This is a time-consuming process, but helps insure you'll have a trouble-free neck for years to come. Most of our guitars and basses use the highest quality, hand-selected Eastern hard rock maple for the neck; while other models, such as our popular California Carved Top models, use premium hand-selected mahogany.
Then we add a pair of modulus carbon-fiber rods, which dramatically strengthens the neck. The addition of these rods more than doubles the tensile strength of the neck, and is especially valuable in climates with broad seasonal weather changes, or when on the road (your tech will love it!). We use the highest quality industrial glues to secure the truss rod, carbon-fiber rods and fingerboard to the neck blank, making one extremely stable and strong unit that will stay true under the most trying conditions.
Next, we add a high-strength, two-way adjustable truss rod. This allows you to adjust the action of your guitar or bass exactly the way you want it. The steel truss rod we use is much larger than what is commonly used by some other manufacturers, but this gives our necks additional rigidity while maintaining optimal adjustability.
You can also order multi-laminate necks consisting of 5 pieces of wood in various combinations or maple, mahogany, walnut, limba, purpleheart and koa. Our 5-piece necks not only add more stability to the neck, they look great, especially when combined with other exotic body and top woods. The Custom Shop also offers a complete host of other neck options, including gloss, satin and tung-oil finishes; fingerboard woods, such as ebony, zebrawood, flamed maple and birdseye maple; different radius options on many models; and a wide assortment of fretwire and inlay options, along with our new Luminlay super blue side dots. Dozens of options allow you to get just the neck you want, for playability, tone, looks and longevity.
When it comes to your guitar or bass neck, you shouldn't compromise, and that's why Kiesel Guitars and the Carvin Guitars Custom Shop goes the extra mile in design, materials and construction of our acclaimed necks. Design your new Custom Shop guitar or bass today, and spend less time adjusting your instrument, and more time playing it.
