Flower Pedals Launches the Hosta Wah Filter

An analog wah circuit with a digital brain.

Lititz, PA (February 26, 2020) -- Have you always wanted a wah planted in your tone garden, but didn’t want to give up the real estate for such a simple effect? Well, check out the Hosta Wah Filter! It’s an analog wah circuit with digital control. The analog circuitry is based off the most well known wah in history, complete with a genuine red fasel inductor.

The Hosta gives you control over four parts of the analog wah circuit: Level, Gain, Frequency, and Q. It then gives you three different modes for controlling the wah: Auto, Fixed, and Envelope. Knobs A and B give you control over up to four parameters of each mode in addition to an extra footswitch for tap and ramping features.

In Auto mode, the wah is controlled by an LFO. This mode provides four continuously variable shapes, tap tempo with subdivisions, and ramping abilities.

In Fixed mode, the wah is fixed but can be moved to a secondary position by using the tap switch. In this way you can manually wah without a big expression pedal. If you would like to use the Hosta like a typical wah though, you can use a standard expression pedal to control it in this mode.

In Envelope mode, the wah is controlled by the attack of the guitar signal, much like an envelope filter. With controls over sensitivity and threshold, you can easily dial in the perfect spot. The tap switch can be used to switch back and forth between envelope up and envelope down.
