SKB''s new softcases feature protective interiors

Orange, CA (July 25, 2008) -- SKB Corporation has expanded its popular Softcase line. These new cases offer the same rigid foam protection found in SKB’s hardshell cases, along with the style and portability of nylon gig bags. Six new softcase models are being offered, including the two newest designs from SKB, the 1SKB-SC58 for Flying V Type Guitars and the 1SKB-SC63 for Explorer/Firebird Type Guitars.

Here''s the scoop, straight from SKB:

Unlike conventional, rectangular shaped guitar cases, these Softcases employ distinctive designs (both interior and exterior) that mirror the actual shape of these unique instruments, yielding a smaller footprint while cradling the guitars for added protection. The other four models are the 1SKB-SC300 for Baby Taylor/Martin LX; 1SKB-SCFS6 for Universal Shaped Electric Guitars; 1SKB-SC56 for Les Paul Type Guitars; and 1SKB-SCFB4 for Universal Shaped Electric Basses.

Softcase models are manufactured from a rugged, weather resistant 600 Denier ballistic nylon exterior with a hard-core EPS foam interior to provide more substantial protection than a conventional gig bag, at an affordable price. The plush lined interiors also offer full neck support for added protection. All Softcase models include two external zippered pouches, one with numerous internal compartments for organized accessory storage, as well as adjustable padded backpack straps for easy transport.

“SKB has been the consistent leader in hard case development, and it only makes sense to offer the same protective innovations of our renowned hard cases with the convenience and benefits of a soft nylon exterior,” stated Steph Maffei, SKB Product Manager. “With an affordable price, a lighter construction and enhanced portability with the padded back pack straps, these cases offer the ultimate in SKB protection for the guitarist on the go.”

The new Softcase models from SKB will be available September 1, 2008, with estimated street as follows:

1SKB-SC300 for Baby Taylor/Martin LX $59.99
1SKB-SCFS6 for Universal Shaped Electric Guitars $69.99
1SKB-SC56 for Les Paul type Guitars $74.99
1SKB-SC58 for Flying V type Guitars $89.99

Kenny Greenberg with his main axe, a vintage Gretsch 6118 Double Anniversary that he found at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville for a mere $600. “It had the original pickups, but the finish had been taken off and the headstock had been repaired. So, it’s a great example of a ‘player’s vintage instrument,’” he says.

On his solo debut, the Nashville session wizard discovers his own musical personality in a soundtrack for a movie that wasn’t, with stops in Africa and Mississippi hill country.

Kenny Greenberg has been Nashville’s secret weapon for decades. He’s the guitarist many insiders credit with giving the Nashville sound the rock ’n’ roll edge that’s become de rigueur for big country records since the ’90s. It’s the sound that, in many ways, delivered country music from its roots to sporting events.
