Suhr and Make'n Music Release Modern Pro Limited Edition Guitars

Limited line aimed giving Suhr Custom Shop quality with more affordable pricing and immediate availability.

Lake Elsinore, CA (December 12, 2012) -- Suhr Guitars has released a limited edition line of guitars available exclusively at Chicago's Make'n Music. The Modern Pro Limited Edition guitars feature hand-selected specifications and finishes and are limited to 20 pieces. Here are the details from the Make'n Music website:

The specifications of the Suhr Modern Pro Series M5 and M7 Limited Edition feature a Mahogany body with a brilliant, book-matched figured Maple top, natural satin Mahogany neck and a dark Indian Rosewood fingerboard. This wood combination, which is more typical of a 50's era Gibson-style instrument, in conjunction with the 25 '' scale bolt-on design give the Modern Pro Series M5 and M7 Mahogany Ltd. guitars a unique voice that is full and harmonically rich, with a pleasing 'snap' and immediacy as notes leap off the neck. Playability is enhanced with a compound radius (10"-14") fretboard, jumbo stainless steel frets (Plek'd) and the ultra-comfortable Modern Elliptical GG neck carve (.800"-.850"). The Modern body style, with its beveled contours and deep offset cutaways, ensures superior balance and upper fret access.

The Suhr Modern Pro Series M5 and M7 Limited Edition guitars offer an astounding array of usable and familiar tones. The unique voice of the these exclusive instruments is brought to life by an acclaimed trio of Suhr pickups- the SSV humbucker (neck), ML Single Coil (middle) and SSH+ humbucker (bridge)- all are controlled by a 5-way pickup selector and blower switch. The SSV is designed to provide the best sonic qualities of a vintage, PAF style humbucker with enhanced clarity and definition across the tonal spectrum. The ML single coil, designed by Suhr with input from the LA studio legend and solo artist Mike Landau, is a vintage style single coil that sounds big and full while retaining the detailed high-end sparkle and the big tight lows of the best vintage pickups. The SSH+ is a high output Humbucking pickup that produces a clear cutting top-end with excellent harmonics and a focused low end. Each pickup adds to the diverse sonic capabilities of this exclusive offering, but the real magic is in how they work together. These humbuckers, when split and combined with the middle single coil pickup, offer some of the most convincing "in between" tones available with plenty of spank and quack to make any Strat or Tele lover drool. The Blower switch is also a useful addition to the M5 and M7 Mahogany Limited guitars. When activated, the Blower bypasses the electronics and sends the bridge humbucker signal straight to the output jack at full volume. This means you can use it like a pre-set, to go from sparkly, bluesy, neck pickup or "in-between" style tones to full-on shred-style leads with the push of a button. If you have never experienced this option before you will be hooked immediately.

The M5 and M7 both feature high quality hardware. The primary difference between these two models is that the M5 features a Gotoh Floyd Rose locking tremolo system while a Gotoh 510 tremolo bridge with solid saddles and a steel block is fitted to the M7. Both bridges are recessed and set up to float for the ability to dive bomb, pull-up or warble your way out of any solo. Tuning stability is enhanced with the addition of locking Hipshot Tuners on both models and chrome knobs provide a sturdy, controlled feel.

Each Limited Edition Pro Series model is available in 5 beautiful finish options. Trans Blue Denim Slate, Trans Charcoal Burst, Dark Inferno Burst, Light Bengal Burst and Light Honey Burst were selected to bring out the natural beauty of the woods, each with natural scraped binding, a natural Mahogany back and a slick looking Black gloss headstock. Protection is provided by an included, Deluxe G&G Hardshell case.

The Make'n Music exclusive, Limited Edition Pro Series M5 & M7 from Suhr Guitars clearly stand out as top-notch player's tools. Their broad frequency response, tremendous playability and meticulous design make them an instrument worthy of serious consideration by any guitarist seeking top performance and versatility for any situation.

A 26 1/4" scale length, beastly pickups, and buttery playability provoke deep overtone exploration and riotous drop-tuning sounds.

A smooth, easy player that makes exploring extra scale length a breeze. Pickups have great capacity for overtone detail. Sounds massive with mid-scooped fuzz devices.

Hot pickups can obscure some nuance that the wealth of overtones begs for.

No matter how strong your love for the guitar, there are days when you stare at your 6-string and mutter under your breath, “Ugh … you again?” There are many ways to rekindle affection for our favorite instruments. You can disappear to Mexico for six months, noodle on modular synths, or maybe buy a crappy vintage car that leaves you longing for the relative economy of replacing strings instead of carburetors. But if you don’t want to stray too far, there are also many variations on the 6-string theme to explore. You can poke around on a baritone, or a 6-string bass, or multiply your strings by two until you reach jingle-jangle ecstasy.

A familiar-feeling looper occupies a sweet spot between intuitive and capable.

Intuitive operation. Forgiving footswitch feel. Extra features on top of basic looping feel like creative assets instead of overkill.

Embedded rhythm tracks can sneak up on you if you’re not careful about the rhythm level.

Maybe every guitarist’s first pedal should be a looper. There are few more engaging ways to learn than playing along to your own ideas—or programmed rhythms, for that matter, which are a component of the new DigiTech JamMan Solo HD’s makeup. Beyond practicing, though, the Solo HD facilitates creation and fuels the rush that comes from instant composition and arrangement or jamming with a very like-minded partner in a two-man band.
