Composite Acoustics Teams with Trace Elliot

These one-piece neck/body construction guitars will now feature an onboard preamp designed by Trace Elliot.

Medidian, MS (February 13, 2018) -- Composite Acoustics introduces their new carbon fiber acoustic guitars at the 2018 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. These one-piece neck/body construction guitars, already known for their durability, playability, sleek design and tone, will now feature an onboard preamp designed by acoustic amplification expert Trace Elliot.

Established in 1979, Trace Elliot quickly made a name for itself in sound amplification, first with bass amps and second with models specifically designed for acoustic guitars. Amplifying acoustic guitars comes with a unique set of challenges that requires special attention to detail. Trace Elliot dialed in that magic touch and spawned a whole new market segment for acoustic amplification. Now, they can take those innovations and put them into a package that easily installs into the side of an acoustic guitar.

For Composite Acousticsā€™ new carbon fiber guitars, Trace Elliot has designed a preamp that leaves the guitar as untouched as possible, both physically and tonally. Thereā€™s no large preamp cutout and the basic operation is simple, with volume, bass, and treble controls and tone controls that are especially tuned for a pleasing boost or cut of lows and highs. This preamp is designed to enhance pure, natural guitar tone with minimal coloring using sophisticated FFT analysis and simulations. It also has extended battery life made possible through low power circuitry, meaning the battery drains only slightly more than just sitting on a shelf. Simple design and longer battery life are ideal properties for a high-quality carbon fiber acoustic.

"In addition to sounding great, a significant benefit of carbon fiber guitars is their ability to withstand extreme variations in climate conditions. This means that even in intensely hot or humid conditions, the instruments will stay in tune longer than traditional wooden guitars while also retaining their precise setup," said Courtland Gray, Chief Operating Officer of Peavey Electronics Corporation.

Easily fitting into airline overheads, Composite Acoustics guitars are the perfect partner for summer travel. Already offered in a range of colors, these guitars will now be available with a stunning transparent red or transparent blue finish. Players will immediately note the offset sound hole with integrated top bracing technologyā„¢ (IBTā„¢). The proprietary carbon fiber bridge and saddle materials provide maximum sound transfer. With black chrome hardware, these guitars make a statement.

Composite Acoustics continues to set new standards in playability in the world of carbon fiber instruments. Learn more about the guitars at www.compositeacoustics.com or visit them inside the Peavey NAMM booth 201AB.

Retail pricing starts at $1599 USD.

Guitarist Brandon Seabrook, architect of fretboard chaos, and his trusty HMT Tele.

With a modified and well-worn heavy metal Tele, a Jerry Jones 12-string, a couple banjos, some tape sounds, and a mountain of fast-picking chops, New Yorkā€™s master of guitar mayhem delivers Object of Unknown Function.

ā€œItā€™s like time travel,ā€ says Brandon Seabrook, reflecting on the sonic whiplash of ā€œObject of Unknown Function.ā€ The piece, which opens the composerā€™s solo album of the same name, journeys jarringly from aggressive ā€œearly banjo stuffā€ up through ā€œmore 21st-century classical music,ā€ combined with electronic found sounds from a TASCAM 4-track cassette recorder. The end result approaches the disorientation of musique concrĆ©te.

ā€œThe structure is kind of like hopping centuries or epochs,ā€ he adds. ā€œI [wanted] all these different worlds to collide. Itā€™s like a choose-your-own-adventure.ā€
