Swart Amplifier Co. debuted the rad-looking Space Tone ST-45 at Summer NAMM. Powered by a pair of 6L6s, the class AB, 45-watt head uses a GZ34 rectifier, has a 3-way toggle for changing tone-circuit capacitors, and is more than aptly named—its warm clean, tones are ridiculously spacious and otherworldly. $2,299 street.

The Boogie Cabinet Series dates back to the early 1970s when Randall Smith set out to fulfill player requests for extension cabinets matching their Mark I 1x12 and 1x15 open-back combos. The compact size was originally determined by the combo’s dimensions, however as the Mark Series evolved and expanded, so did the extensions. Now players have more options than ever before. Designed with portability in mind, all Mesa cabinet enclosures are crafted from the finest void-free marine-grade Baltic birch ply and loaded with premium Celestion speakers. Super strong rabbet corners are glued and nailed, and speaker baffles are fitted with superior dado joint construction and braced. Grilles are wrapped around a separate grille board, not the baffle board. Grille material is made of strong twisted jute dipped in a special coating that filters top end for a sweeter response. Each lends its unique character to your tone as a standalone cabinet or an extension for your combo amp.

When using low-output dynamic or passive ribbon microphones, a consistent struggle is the introduction of noise from external preamps. Consoles, mixing boards, interfaces, and other preamps can sometimes require the gain to be maxed out, amplifying unwanted noise and often still being too quiet in overall volume. The Hosa MPA-149 Mic Preamp provides an immediate 26dB’s of gain with an impressive -97dBu signal-to-noise ratio, giving users a very clean and immediate gain boost for louder, clearer microphone performance.
Many volume-boost solutions include more cables, electronics, and failure points, whereas the HosaMPA-149 simply connects directly into the microphone. This convenient solution makes it ideal for podcasters, streamers, public speakers, and gigging professionals relying on unpredictable venue preamps to power low-output ribbon or dynamic mics. The Hosa MPA-149 only needs a preamp supplying 48V phantom power but does not pass the phantom power onto the microphone.
